why does everyone hate zoidberg?

seriously i know hermes started hating him in hte episode where bender starts " Jacking on" but why does everyone hate him. . .

Because he's a filthy, incompetant, pennyless, annoying, mooching crawdad. But he's funny to us since we don't have to deal with him.

i don't know, but i love the guy. he hella funny

also, i haven't seen too much evidence to suggest that EVERYONE hates him. hermes does, but the others simply ignore him. maybe cos he smells so bad, maybe.

They all thought he was pretty cool when his suit tie-dyed their tops in Bendin' in the Wind.

I've shared house with more annoying people but I would be worried about the smell eminating from Zoidbberg too ...

Zoidberg also called Fry his dearest friend, in "30% Iron Chef".  Of course, this is probably because Fry is his only friend.

Also notice how immediately after he read from the letter in AOI1, 'Dear Doctor Jerkberg'? Zoidberg sometimes refers to them as his friends, but is always corrected quickly (mostly by Bender).

No, I can't remember the episode.  I think it was series 2.  Someone was threatening to hurt Bender perhaps when he said it.

 i think that Zoidberg wants to be everyone's friend it's just that he freaks everyone out.

Zoidberg is just the kinda guy who wants to be cool and hang out with the other cool people
but because he wants to be cool so badly he isn't
so he becomes some sort of furniture
you can use him to pick on if you want to yell at someone or just bully someone
but if no one wants that they just act normally to him

every group of friends knows of such a person

or are you all that person and that's why you don't know why they hate him?

In HHRHGB, when they find out that Bender was cheating on the card game, Zoidberg says "No, don't hurt him, he's my best friend!" Then, Bender knocks him out of the way and runs.

Yes he does. Maybe Zoidberg did something to make Fry hate him, because Fry does say that Zoidberg is his friend in a few episodes.

I think Zoidberg is a very forgiving person. Every character has said bad things about him, yet he still calls them his friends.
How could you hate Zoidberg, though? He's friendly to everyone.

thats  why i asked! like hermes just out of nowhere hates him in "Hell is other robots" but then likes him in the end of " how hermes requisted his groove back"  then everyone hates him. especially the professor in " teenage mutant leelas hurdles" when he said he would curse zoidberg with his last breath. o well. i guess no one will love zoidberg except for the few who do. ( that last sentence made absolutly no sense sorry.)

It doesn't seem that Fry hates him or dislikes him. Everyone else seems to despise him, though, especially Hermes and Bender.
Fry does say he considered Zoidberg to cool in 'A Taste of Freedom'

Zoidberg is undoubtedly one of the funniest characters on the show, and the fact that others hate being around him makes it all the more funny  a situation, and most importantly makes him more endearing to the audience.

But consider this question: given his trademark characteristics (the poverty, the hunger, the mooching, the garbage, the incompetence, oh and that stink), would YOU want to live with him in real life?

I'll alway thought that the reason why Matt and David started to have Zoidberg being hated by the other crew members was a reference to Star Wars Jar Jar Binks.

Zoidberg is annoying, Jar Jar is annoying.

Both talk funny and both are aquatic aliens.

Both eat food in an strange alien manner.  Jar Jar has a long tongue and Zoidberg eats just as creepy.

Star Wars Ep. I came out in 1999.  Matt and David might have seen it and felt annoyed about Jar Jar and decided to develop Zoidberg into a sort of similar, but more popular manner, since us fans like Zoidberg.
