Didn't he get her in "The Devils Hands are Idle Playthings" ?

Maybe, maybe not.  It's left ambiguous on purpose.

I love Fry and Leela as a couple, but sometimes I wish Fry was still with Amy

FRY AND LEELA ALL THA WAY!!! I mean, there's like, every episode that has their relationship in it! My fave has to be when Fry confessed his love 2 Leela, the end of the Sting and Love and Rocket, and when they got married!

second! Thet just deserve to be together-think about how many times Fry has saved the world, but Leela just brushes them off, yet, at the end of the final episode, they were sooo close to getting together. Maybe they did, we'll never know. Until of course the new movies or seasons come out.....

T'would seem Fry & Leela were intended to be together from the start of the show.  :flirt:

There are enough hints shot throught the show to that effect.   :hmpf:

Yet, it's simultaneously frustrating and satisfying!  :p
It's on an asymptotic trajectory...

Seem's contradictory.   :hmpf:
Or would that be ironic?

as•ymp•tot•i•cal•ly
Main Entry: as•ymp•tot•i•cal•ly
Pronunciation: 'a-s&m(p)-"tOt-ti-k(&-)lE
Function: adverb
: having the characteristics of an asymptote: of, or pertaining to an asymptote

Per the Merriam-Webster on-line dictionary:

Main Entry: as•ymp•tote
Pronunciation: 'a-s&m(p)-"tOt
Function: noun
Etymology: probably from (assumed) New Latin asymptotus, from Greek asymptOtos not meeting, from a- + sympiptein to meet
: a straight line associated with a curve such that as a point moves along an infinite branch of the curve the distance from the point to the line approaches zero and the slope of the curve at the point approaches the slope of the line

[illustration of asymptotes]

For a slightly more detailed description try  Encyclopedia Brittanica online.

Please do not take the foregoing as condescending. I know I tend to use esoteric words now and then.
Sadly, there’s no SC to English translator...  :p
My intent was to describe the Fry/Leela ‘thang  as their getting closer and closer, but never ‘getting together’. Driven largely by the writers of the show not wanting a ‘jump-the-shark’ kind of thing.

Pooy! One little word...   :hmpf:

D'oh!

<*SC thinking*>
It's like getting closer and closer to something, but never quite touching.

<*SC thinking vigorously*>
It's like the image above; the curve get's closer and closer to the straight line (the asymptote), but never crosses it.

<*SC thinking intensely*>
The Fry-Leela thing is fascinating, frustrating and fullfilling all at once, but if the writers ever put Fry and Leela in a "committed relationship" it would completely change one dynamic of the show.

<*SC thinking furiously*>
For fear of loosing audience, the producers will not do this unless/until the show has nothing to lose from it.
They may allow Fry & Leela to get as close as they dare, but not "together."

Closer, and closer, but never touching: Thus, "asymptotically."

Clearer now?

Now, I'd better stop all this thinking or I'm going to break my brain (and it's so hard to find replacement tubes for it).

I like Fry and Leela together!  I always have!  The Fry and Amy thing was just a fling. I would've liked to have seen more of Bender and Angeleyne, though.  I also like Kiff and Amy together.  Kiff and Amy make more sense than her and Fry.

D'oh!

<*Sigh*>

Missed it by that much...

The connotation of Leela & Fry's 'getting together' I was going for was one of an emotionally intimate relationship, not merely dating.

Any number of Fic' writers have proven a Fry & Leela date could be hi-freakin'-larious.

But a date in and of itself wouldn't change the 'dynamic'.

I would have to say that The Professor and Mom would make the best relationship

They are both old and like each other.

I can't see why Fry wants to go out with Leela, after all, he is a human and Leela is a cyclops. I don't think they go good together. Amy and Fry both go good together I suppose. I can imagine Mom and Professor shagging  :evillaugh:

Leela's a human...just a mutated one.

And why do people have to only love their own species?  As you can see from Kif's biology, there's all kinds of ways to swap DNA in the universe.  Not that said DNA swapping is necessary for every loving relationship.

D'OH!

Here's what Wikipedia has to say about William F. Buckley.

The salient bits are these:

Quote
Buckley is a nationally syndicated newspaper columnist whose work appears in more than 300 newspapers, and author of numerous books both fiction and non-fiction. His writing style is characterized by his strict adherence to correct grammar, strong opinion, and use of uncommon words. Over the course of his career his views have changed on some issues, such as drug legalization, which he now favors.
And this:
Quote
For many viewers of public television, Buckely's erudite style on his weekly show Firing Line was their primary exposure to Buckley. Buckley displayed a scholarly, non-confrontational and humorous approach to his conservatism and was know for his facial expressions and gestures when asking particularly probing intellectual questions of his guests.

Capiche?

Do you understand me now?

Me and my big mouth...

Of COURSE it's fun.  Who said it wasn't?  I never said you didn't need sex.

What I MEANT is, two people of differing species can love, and make love like crazed weasels, even if they're not biologically able to interbreed.  Not every couple HAS to have kids.

That's all I was sayin'.

Some of the others listed don't even come close.

Kif/Amy - Eh...Kif needs to stop letting himself be used as a doormat, especially for Zapp.

If you mean the Fry/Leela 'thang' is the most compelling in the show,
