Yeah, as a whole I like it. Not to the level of being a shipper, but it's a good aspect of the show. Episodes such as "Xmas Story", "Parasites Lost" and AFTR had great moments. It's when the relationship become the sole focus of an episode, it suffers. I really liked the ending of TDHAIP, ambigious and cute. In my mind, they didn't get together after that episode, they just remained very good friends.

I used to be a die hard shipper. After learning of the show's inevitable cancellation, I eased off. I didn't want to be some sort of loser who cries because they didn't get together. That said, this show would not have been the same without the romantic aspect. It's one of the things that kept it from being a Simpsons in Space deal.
There are some people who don't like the relationship because they want Fry or Leela for themselves. That's just sad. It's alright to fantasize, but to actually be jealous of a person that doesn't exist. That's sort of crossing the line.
Oh, and the Fry and Bender suggestion disturbs me to the core. There's no way that would ever happen. They address that right out of the gate. I don't much care for unbelieveable matchups. Fry and Amy I can see. I'll even buy Leela and Amy. But Bender and Fry (in fact Bender and anything nonrobotic) raise the question of how?

I'm only asking because the meaning is somewhat different, depending on which word you meant to use. But yes, in answer to the original question, I do like the relationship between Fry and Leela; if by relationship you mean that the two of them are best friends, with a lot of romantic tension between them, but they never actually become a couple, until the final episode, when they do, or else they don't, depending on your point of view.

I voted yes.. It was really well shown especially in The Sting. "I don't know if u can hear me, Leela, but i love u.." ect ect... It just makes u go AAAwwww... But if they do actually make more Futurama after TDHAIP (please please please!), I think that showing Fry/Leela together (really together like the Kif+Amy thing) might just kill of one of the more funnier aspects of the show, ya know wat i'm saying?

Fry and Leela made a great double act, with them just being friends and there being some sexual/romantic tension in the air, did make the double act even better. Some of the romantic stuff was really sweet too, although I think the show would have been dampened if not ruined had they actually got it together.

no i hate it usually, we see relationships in every fucking hollywood program and other t.v programs, its such an unoriginal idea because they cant think of anything better. like the farnsworth parabox, you have a parralel universe to explore, but you concentrate on characters, in time keeps on slipping, you have a serious situation, why not have a more comedy based b story, but no you have a serious relationship thing, the bender c story almost made up for it. so no i'd like to see a program that doesn't have male and female love intrest, it would just be the most original thing in the world

Comedy? Comedy!? 'Futurama' is not a comedy! It's a bittersweet romance! Originally posted by Teral:

(Points to heart) To tell you the truth, 'Parasites Lost' and 'Time Keeps on Slippin'' actually made me cry. So close Fry was, so close... Plus, if Fry and Leela finally do get together, it doesn't have to be the focus of the show. I personally doubt that 'Futurama' will come back for as a series, but I am confident in the movies. And if Matt has to end the series, then at least give the fans (a. k. a., shippers) what they want. (If you think about it, he sort of did that in 'The Devils Hands Are Idol Playthings'. Any way you wanted it to turn out, it could've) Plus, why was the final episode so shippy, if something wasn't going to happen? P. S. And don't forget what Nibbler said in 'The Why of Fry' about 'The Other'. Matt and DXC had Nibbler's role in this episode planned out from the beginning. And I'm pretty sure there's some things we about him that we still don't know that are going to be revealed at the end.

Well, I don't think it was becoming a soap opera, but it was getting kind of close with Leela rejecting Fry all the time. Say, what happened on that date they went on after 'The Farnsworth Parabox', anyway? With the movies, they could wrap pretty much all the storylines up into a nice finale package. Please!

What do you mean, your woman? She's mine! (Today I'm pretending to be Farnsworth) ------------------ Signed, Intendant Commander Xanfor, The Original & Foremost Fry+Leela Shipper
Who mourned during 'Parasites Lost'? Who suffered during 'Time Keeps on Slippin''? Who couldn't stop weeping for a week after 'Leela's Homeworld'? Ok, so I'm a very sensitive person! I actually cried myself to sleep with happiness after 'Love & Rocket'! And don't get me started on 'The Sting'! What happened after 'The Farnsworth Parabox' anyway?
We now pause to bring you these subliminal messages:
