Amy is smart, she just doesn't apply herself, mostly because it annoys her parents, and she has everything.  When called on, though, she does fine.  Anyway, what would you rather have, a Bar or a Car?

So what if Amy's not that smart?  She's a lot nicer than most people you'd meet in the 31st century.

Money might not be the most important thing there is, but brains aren't everything either.  If I had to choose between a smart, bitchy girl, and a friendly airhead, I'd go with the airhead.

Anyway, I don't know why Fry should care if Amy is dumb.  It's not like he's any smarter.

I don't know, she's pretty harsh to Leela (ie, "So that's where you get your boots", The Deep South).  Granted, she doesn't seem to realize she's being so mean to her, but still...

I think certain people...ahem...may be getting a bit too worked up about the thoughts that go through the heads of cartoon characters. I don't have views that are quite so over the top as getak, but I would prefer Amy mostly because of what I want (in real life of course) at this particular age and point in time, so stuff like in PYHOMS seems like heaven. Of course other people feel differently, no reason why they shouldn't. It at least creates some interesting discussions

In most cases, Amy isn't trying to insult Leela, she just says the wrong things.  She's not just physically awkward, she's socially awkward too.  The fact that she's somewhat intimidated by Leela doesn't help.
