God bless you, Prince!  You are right-- Zapp needs to be a mainstream character.  What little airtime he has is not enough!  Anyway, the worst character is Hermes, in case I didn't post on this before.

I find Hermes annoying at times, but i think they need him...especially for the racial diversity in this politically correct world, and also because he provides an outlet of some of the anger you've built up over the day, as well as some slightly amusing jokes and referances. He's still annoying as hell though!!

Hmmm I have mixed opinions on Hermes. In some ways I don't like him, like when he's always saying his annoying phrases such as "Sweet gorilla of Manila", and he is terrible boring but without him there wouldn't have ever been a "How Hermes requisitioned his groove back", and I'm quite a fan of that episode...especially the song, i'm a sucker programs that just burst into song. So i'm sticking to hating Qbert. Little "@#!@!!...

PC correctness aside, every show needs a Jamaican. They rock. As does Hermes. I love his sayings! And his strange obssession with green snakes and suger cane...

THERE IS NO SUCH THING ON THIS SHOW THEY ARE ALL GREAT
except for Cubert he is a jerk LOL
he has his moments though ... the part where
he hit the door was pretty good

My least favorite main character is Zoidberg; even the shows in which he starred (WMIBACIL, That's Lobstertainment, eg.) aren't 'top-tier' episodes for me. Least favorite supporting character is the 'hyper-chicken' lawyer, althought objecting to his own courtroom work is amusing.

Hermes adds a lot, IMHO, and his exclamations are priceless. 'I call it Carribean Drano' IS gold, and Calculon and Morbo are the best West Coast characters in the show.

Zoidberg is legend, I wasn't too keen of him at first, but now I watch it so regularly I've learnt to cherish his appearances.
It's not always what he says, its everything about him: his comical movements, his voice, his whole appearence, and his personnaility that has somehow built up over his minor appearences...awsome!!

Bring the thread back from the edge of death...I have to say Amy is the worst of the "main characters."  I'm not sure I could explain why I dislike her. 

It might be that she's so dumb...but Fry is dumb, and it's charming.

It might be that she's self-centered and egotistical...but Bender is self-centered and egotistical and everyone loves him.

It might be that so much of her humor value comes from her accent...but a lot of Zoidy and Hermes' funniness comes from their accents, and I like both of them.

I guess I'd have to say that she's "disposable."  All of her character traits are shared to some extent by other characters, so there doesn't seem to be much of a reason for her to even be there. 

(No offense to any Amy fans.)

I agree with CWD (who is my brother, just so you know) Amy is quite expendable. They never wrote her a personality. Her only real purpose is to be a klutz, Leela's rival, and Kif's smismar. Evidence of this no-personality-ness is that when asked how the fantasy planet or something like that, I can't remember) was, she just said "Great". They couldn't think of anything really funny for her to say, to reflect personality, because she really doesn't have one. Once again, absolutely NO OFFENSE to the fans of Amy. I still think she's funny.

As for those dissing Hermes, Zoidy, and Cubert, how???

Hermes, he has a jamacian accent- how can you not like that?

Zoidy- He is funny on all levels! He has an accent, he is incompetent, he m akes disgusting eating sounds and visuals, etc. I don't know what's not to like... ;-)

And Cubert- He's hardly even in there anyway. And when he is, it's funny.

Zoidy is probably my fav!

I think Amy and Hermes are great.  Amy is important because she takes some of the "klutz" pressure off Fry (so it's not always him making the dumb mistake), and because she's shallow but good-natured (there are such people in the world--rare though they be).  She can be a "straight man" or be funny as needed, and she is the sole representative of what is "hip" in the future.  When they need someone to explain some new social fad, Amy is the logical choice.

Hermes is important because he can be "the heavy" and get on peoples' cases when it would be inappropriate for the Prof or Leela to fulfil that role.  He also keeps the PE staff "grounded" in a way that the others are too zany to do.  And I personally think he's hilarious.  Maybe it's because I'm an anal-retentive accounting clerk, but his love of filing and forms makes me laugh every time.  Combined with his free-wheelin' Jamaican way of talking, the contrast is even more amusing.

Cubert is annoying...though I found him less so in "Route of All Evil".  He and Dwight make a good pair when youthful stupidity is called for.

I can't really think of any characters that strike me as bad, so I can't say who "the worst" is.  I can say who is less amusing than some, though...Anglelyne(sp?) never thrilled me much.

I can say that I personally disliked Michelle most of all, but that makes her a good character as Fry's ex.

Mom's servants are the worst characters. I've never laughed at them.
In terms or secondary characters though, Hermes would be weakest.
And, in terms of the 3 main characters, Bender is the weakest.
