Yeah, Juliet, could be pretty cold. . . but I can see the attraction in Bender's attitude alright!

I don't know why, but I'd guess Zapp Brannigan is in his mid-late 30s - he's young enough to be fairly fit and get Leela but old enough to be sensitive about his age, which he seems to be in the "You remind me of a young 'me', Fry. . ." quote.
Plus he could be a many-starred captain & have written a book by the age of about 36 or 37 - just my intuitive guess     :D

Fairly fit? Fairly fat is more like it. Something about this guy just screams "midlife crisis".

Yeah i know...
I dont think that "young me" quote is correct... He's said many other lies and stupid things before and after, so why does everyone think this is true? Besides its impossible to know the old him. HEY! that gives me an idea for a new thread:

I like and don't like Bender, His attitude is kinda like mine but his looks make him look like a man in a teletubbie suit *shudders*. My fave character is Kif, I'd say he is about 20 or 18 because he looks it!!!!! Kif is the cutest member of Futurama, you go Kif.

Bah. Forget Bender and his attitude. I like Fry's attitude. He exists purely to goof off. He wanders about, not really caring what happens...he gets sent to the year 3000 and it's no big deal. I want to be exactly like him in every way.

Leela: Nobody wants to tell you this, but you're covered in bed sores.

Fry: Not *covered*.

Zapp could be any age, he is a 25 star general as well as captain and by following logic he'd have to be really old to be a 25 star general i fhe had to be 40 to be a captain, do you get what I mean?

As long as Zapp's achivements is of the sort mentioned in "Brannigan Begins Again" by the DOOP leader it would be very easy for him to achieve a rank as captain.

DOOP Leader: "The legendary DOOP captain, just returned from his triumphant carpet bombing victory over the Pacifists of the Ghandi Nebula, Zapp Branningan."

Hey, that gives me an idea for a new board: Zapp Brannigan's Hall of Victories

when it all started...but think like 2-3 years later they would be more than this
Fry=25
Leela=we assume 25
Amy=21
Hermes=in his 30's
farsnworth=160

I think Hermes would have to be late 30s or early 40s since he was in the 2980 olympics, so he'd have to be 18 or older back then

I wanted to start a thread about this, but OH! Here one is!

 I'd like to contest that Bender is actually older than Fry. First off, Fry would be 1025 because  he was 25 in 1999. Bender would be even older because he was four in the year three-thousand-something, then went back to 1947 and spent well over a thousand years underground. That would put him pretty high in the ranking, possibly only second to Nibbler.

And what about Doctor Zoidberg? In a fishful of dollars he gets very emotional about his people hunting anchovies to extinction, and even recognizes "that stench." That would make him hundreds of years old. Hmmmmm

And what about Scruffy? Sometimes I see him with a brown moustache. This may indicate that he indeed posses the power to randomly jump non-linearly through spacetime to any time and place in the universe. Yes. Who knows what tales Scruffy has to tell.

That's the coolest idea ever! I propose a secondary mythology in the new season(s) deaking with the adventures of Scruffy.
I am prompted, once again, to repost this picture of mine:

It's easy. I'm in a never ending chubby / slim loop. So when I'm slim, I say 'I can afford to pig out'. So I do, And get chubby (not like Zapp, but accelerating towards his state). Then I go 'sh*t!' and go clear 1 acre of weeds in the Australian Month of Jan ... and voíla, I'm slim again.

I only hope I die when I 'm in the slim state...  :rolleyes: all that lard will smell awful when burnt cremated..

But what do you guys think of the idea of Zoidberg being several hundred years old? Any other age you have for him?

The anchovies reference would seem to support an extended lifespan for him, and it would make him all the more pathetic if he's lived centuries and still been unable to make something of himself.

Well I believe that Bender's head should actually be   about 1055 years old. 53 years from 1947 to 2000, then 1000 years until 3000 and a few years of being a precosious scamp after that.

I'm sure that the writers have some very creative way of explaining the relative logistics of the crew traveling at 99.999999...% lightspeed and yet when they come back the same amount of time has passed for both parties, both on Earth and in space. In reality, by the time that the crew returned from any intergalactic mission, everyone at planet express would be long dead.

Universal light speed was increased exponentially, as explained in 'A Clone of my Own', thus enabling away missions to occur closer to real time.

I know that lightspeed was increased, but if anything, that would make the relative difference even greater because it allows the ship to gain even greater inertia. Now instead of traveling 99.99999999999999999999% lightspeed they can travel
99.99999999999999999999999999 99999999999999999% of lightspeed. Or something.
Actually, come to think of it, the ship actually moves the universe around it, so It would indeed be the crew of the ship that would grow old prematurely, seeing as the universe is traveling at high speed whilst the ship remains static. When they go on an intergalactic mission they are actually pushing the earth away from them at near light speed.
This is a very confusing exercise in the principles of general relativity.

Benders body is 4 but his head is aged 1057, making him older than Fry and the professor.

Nibbler is at least 1004 probably older.
