I think you might want to reconsider your thread-names. Afterall, there's a reason we don't like "SEXXX!!! But now that I got your attention...." threads. And I'll join in on the discussion tomorrow. Wow, I'm really starting to feel bad for the poor guy here. It's like the entire board hates him. I always thought Futurama fans were a tolerant bunch, and I for one like to have someone with 'different views' around. Think of how dull it would be if we all agreed on everything.
Ok, on topic now: Amy does seem to be sort of the opposite of Leela. That's probably part of the reason she was written into the show - she's a counterbalance for Leela. Amy is a carefree, somewhat dumb, fairly slutty girl that comes from a rich family. She is also a passive character; Leela often takes the foreground and catches people's attention (positive or negative), while Amy is just sort of "there". She's certainly not the complete antithesis of Leela, but that's normal, since she certainly has other reasons for being in the show.

Thank you.
now onto the topic, since everyone else seems to be busy with other things.
i feel that leela being the totally non-impulsive, reserved, lonely character needed to have a complete opposite, hence, amy is born. she is more impulsive, never lonely, and not the least bit reserved, that is until Kif, i believe, where she finally found someone to go steady with.
her characer is still a bit of a mystery to me because she is not show very often and never gets the best of roles, although she should.
what are your thoughts on all this?

As I said, she does provide a strong counterbalance for Leela, although I wouldn't say she's a COMPLETE opposite. She reminds me of a "carefree highschool girl" type of character - still a kid on a mental level, not mature at all. Her behavior throughout the series proves this. I wouldn't say that there's a lot of 'mystery' to her character, though. It's true that she almost never gets an important role, but there's really not much you can do with her. She's just not the type of character to take the foreground - she just exists in the background, causes some mischief, and does tend to let her presence be known despite the fact that she's not in a leading role. I can't really picture her in a dramatic, important, leading role in an episode that doesn't directly involve herself or her family (Where The Buggalo Roam and Kif Gets Knocked Up A Notch), and even there she fades in comparison to characters like Leela and Fry when they're in the lead. Basicly, Amy is your classic supporting character.

Back on topic, I think Amy's not a slut. After all, since season 2 started, she's only "gone out" with two different people, Fry and Kif. Compare that to Leela or Fry (especially Fry!) Sure, she was kind of a floozy in season 1, but hey, she's young, she flirts, she's like everyone at that age. I think getak is just jealous. Edit. Okay, now I'm interested to see who's slutty and who hasn't. The Gone Out With/Made Out With ChartFry:The girl from the 21st Century (LLLiS) *Edna (WMIBaCIL?) Amy (PYHoMS) Morgan Proctor (How Hermes...) Umbrielle (The Deep South) Michelle (The Cryonic Woman) Lucy Liu's head (I Dated a Robot) Grandma Mildred (Roswell...) Leela:Zapp Brannigan! Dean Vernon (Mars U.) Alkazar (Bicylops...) Adlai Adkinson (Cyber House...) Chaz (TWOF) Shatner! (Where No Fan...) (yes, she made out with him, so it counts) Amy:M5438 (LLLiS) (not the PEELer, the energy being) Armando (I 2nd That Emotion) Fry (PYHoMS) Kif (Amazon Women to present day)

Well, she did go steady with Kif. That sort of limits her looseness. You have to give her credit, too - she's staying faithful for quite a while now. (Idle flirting does not count.)
