HDC
I do not really care much about your insults here, but now after you've repeated the same rubbish for the THIRD time, won't you please shut up? If I am so boring for you, why'd you keep discussing ME here? Go open a topic on your 'doop.ru' for that, you bigoted, biased, one-sided, discriminatory, interested, partial, jug-handled, tendentious, preconceived, prejudiced, fanatical and partisan Leela-lover!

And, yeah, new page! TOTPD!

Oh, sure. It's so obvious that saying "Bender's not so great", "beck's a bigot" and "beck cannot provide feasible points" is saying exactly the same phrases  :) Ok then.

PS. Be careful with those synonyms, they're not always exactly equal each other  :)

that's not necessarily the dialogue of an idiot, it sounds to me more like the dialogue of someone whose never won anything in her life.

AND, back to the point, I carefully studied your ideas on Leela's smartness. So far nothing changed much - you proved again piloting and beating abilities of Leela are good, though it seems that it is the consequence of inferiority complex, which she's got in childhood and which is still with her - to prove she is better than others, she learned how to pilot (which, I admit, seems to be much more difficult when you've got only 1 eye)

She never took pilot lessons, I don't think it's part of the FAO course. She did however get a driving license, and that probably qualifies your for every vehicle imaginable. When we first meet Leela she is a normal, stable person (although tired of her job, but aren't we all?), I really don't see Leela as a person who would take lessosns in something just to prove that she's better than some child-hood bullies she haven't seen in 15 years, can you?

And this is straying from your original claim that Leela is a block-head. Inferiority complex has nothing to do with intelligence.

to punish those, who were not quite convinced with that, she took som fighting lessons from old Fnog.
But that inferiority complex is still there, though well-hidden.  And it has nothing to do with smartness.

Punish? She attended Phnogs martial art classes to gain confidence. And judging from "The Cyber House Rules" she never used her martial arts on the bullies back at the orphanarium.

And I challenge you to find one example of Leela beating up somebody, on the sole reason they disagreed with her being better than them. Or simply find an example of Leela beating up somebody, just for the hell of it.

There were at least a dozen other students in Phnogs class, going by your theory I guess all those too had an inferiority complex.

And again, you seem to have abandoned your original claim that Leela is a block-head.

Bear in mind, this is the judgement of another person, based on a few seconds of dialogue, and while under the influence of the Hypnotoad. I'd hardly call him an expert on Leela.

Bender: "I need a calculator."
Fry: "You are a calculator."
Bender: "I mean a good calculator!"

Bender admitting he is stupid, and he know himself were well.   :p

You crazy Brits and your substitution of letters in plurals. You do it solely to confuse us poor foreigners, don't you?

Thanks for the nitpick though. The correct spelling will soon appear in a post near you.

Apparently we're all using Unicode fonts. Win2k and WinXP (and probably MacOS X) support them.

That was "ivrit", the Hebrew word for Hebrew. (Correct, Kryten?)

Baklan posted:

Translated using my Russian that I barely remember (directly translated it makes no sense, so I'll try to make some sense out of it; correct my translation if I'm wrong, Baklan) : "This forum doesn't support it..."

I stand corrected. UBB can accept Unicode.

Zapp can be annoying sometimes (like when he constantly reminds Leela of the time he slept with her) Cubert is the most annoying character.

Has anyone mentioned Sal?  Cubert and Zapp are annoying but they should be.  Gunther isn't important, so not much can be said, but he is annoying.

Calculon is cool! That episode just didn't have any kick. And Zoidberg shouldn't have any relatives. Aside from that, Richard Nixon annoys me. I think he's overrated. Yeah the episode where he became president of earth was funny--but George Washington's head in a jar is better!  :)

Nixon's supposed to be annoying and overrated. Matt Groening hates the bastard with a passion, from what I gather.

I reckon Gunter is the most annoying character. Cubert's annoying too, but like someone else said, at least he is meant to be annoying, and treated as such by the others.

Hermes can get very annoying and Bender as well.
Most of the episodes starring Bender are the worst.

No I'm just kidding. But Leela is there also to be the straight act. That's how most comedy works, there has to be a straight character. If all three of them were do-laly, then it would get boring and the characters themselves would be rather shallow. If you look at Monty Python, you'd find that many of the sketches (by no means all) have one or two straight characters in them. Almost like a weight to prevent everything else flying away into farcity. Leela's like that. But also it does give the writers another option to make Leela do something not usually like her then it would make some viewers who constantly see Bender and Fry doing things "wake up" when they see Leela do something weird since they weren't expecting that. It keeps the show fresher.   :)

Well said. Lisa simpson or leela are not boring. Lisa is always credited as being boring because all the episodes are centred on Bart and Homer. Lisa is a real life character she is clever yet laughs her head of at itchy and scratchy. Leela isn't boring she's fiesty and is always there for everyone.

The   button loves to be touched, stevie. Much more than the button. Make PEEL smile. Don't double post.

OnT: I don't find any of the characters in Futurama seriously annoying. They all have some good lines from time to time. Though HyperChicken can get tiresome.

Gunther did do one funny thing, when he was on the log and he was just about to reconsider climbing the rope, he was like "But on the other hand" then the rope just snaps.  HILARIOUS!!!!   :laff:
