John Dimaggio's voice changed DRAMATICALLY over the last ten years.  It's kinda strange because his voice in the movies seemed to be the same as on the old series.

The only character's voices that haven't changed much are Billy West's and Phil Lamar's.  Maurice LaMarche's characters (specifically Calculon) has changed a little.  Katie Sagal's, Leela, is exactly the same and so is Lauren Tom's, Amy Wong, character.

Bender is WAY off.  Joey Mousepad sounds like it's somebody completely different.  What happened to these actor's voices?

Not to mention David Herman's characters.  Did David Herman die or something?  Why are not his characters the same at all?

Bender is huskier now, but it changed during the original run too. Roberto sounded a bit different recently in Law And Oracle. I dunno what happened, maybe they got to them! ...

I haven't noticed any difference in Bender's voice since late Series 2....

You're right.  Bender's voice was different in season two than it was in season 1.  What gets me is HOW DIFFERENT it is now from what it was even in the movies.

@DannyJC13, Did you watch this week's episode?  I couldn't get over it.

Also, where is David Herman?  Did he die?  Why are ALL his characters being done by someone else?

It still sounds like John Dimaggio but it's different.  It's hard to put into words how a voice sounds different than it used to.

I can actually do a pretty decent ORIGINAL Bender's voice, "Kill all humans.  Kill all humans."

"Fry, I was having the most WONDERFUL dream!"

"Hey, sexy mamma, wanna kill all humans?"

It changed from season 1 through season 2 but I don't think it has changed much since then.

A couple lines in Season 6 were maybe a bit different from Season 4 but nothing major.

I don't know if you can tell this, but we can't hear you saying these things through PEEL. :p

I think it's pretty obvious that the voice actors, having aged 10 years, have probably experienced some changes in terms of their vocal flexibility and their voice acting. Not quite as drastic as changes inspired by puberty, but, they're all getting older. All of their voices have probably gotten a little huskier. Only a little though, everyone is still very recognizable.

Bender's voice sounds really weird in 'Law and Oracle' when he says:

'Here's your damn peanut butter and jelly sandwich!'

Kind of raspy.

I do agree that Bender's voice does sound a little bit different now. I can't explain it though...I guess he sounds more annoying? lol

I don't mind the changes in the voices. I only don't like it when it's drastic or when they change voice actors. If you think about it, it's been ten years. Not only have the voice actors aged, but technically I guess the characters do too (although that's talked about in another thread), so if you want to get technical, I'm sure their voices would get a little raspier.

But honestly, I don't mind.

I prefer the new Bender voice:
Aside from the "raspiness", it is not only less clearer than the old season voice,
but also carries a much stronger accent. The voice gained more "character", imhO.

What amazed me: I do understand the new Bender as good as the old one.
(Which came quite as a surprise, as I do face some problems when it comes to
understand English dialects and slang).

All and all, I would say Di Maggio seemed to know exactly what he was doing
when he changed his vocal acting, when he spoke less clearly, but remained as understandable as before.

Dude, That one episode with the Warden from the Orphanarium and Hedonismbot was awful.  It was like David X. Cohen went out on the street and picked two people at random to do the voices of these two characters.  I honestly thought that David Herman left the show but then someone told me that Hedonismbot is performed by Maurice Lamarch.

Then I was like, "Did they fire TWO actors?"

I also think Bender's voice has gotten clearer, which is nice. Just rewatched Mobius Dick partly for the purpose of focusing on Bender's voice and I think all of the changes it has undergone since season 1 are for the better. It flows better now, for lack of a better term.
