wow, what is this place? auchwitz?
Maybe you should try Nazi Germany before making such a stupid comment. I am not surprised you went to the worst online discussion 'trick' in the book. In every society there are rules. In online communities, it is true that the very strictness and nature of these rules varies. But often in large communities, and especially one with a dedicated community like PEEL, these rules tend to be strict and focus on presentation of posts. If you want people to actual focus on what you say and what your opinions are, then at least take the effort of doing some correct spelling and grammar, punctuations are great too. The point is, you don't look like you took much effort into your posts, then why should be we respond with the same kind of effort?

although jeezum comes across as cool and level headed, i have not found the same for many other posters. it surprises me really, as futurama is such a cool show, id expect their fans to be as well.
Uhm, I am not sure 'cool' can be applied like that to those different things. If by cool, you mean chilled out and laid back. I am not so sure, that is actually the crowd that Futurama appeals to. In my mind, how Futurama fans act, is exactly how I would think they would. See, they care. They care about the show, but more importantly; the very community they have build up around the show. Anyone is welcome, yes yes, but they have to play by our rules. No one likes a rebel. Especially one who is doing it because they didn't know better.

You don't act like a noob so there's no need to feel terrorized, really.
I thought the ' ' showed that I was joking, clearly not. Oh well. I agree, with the above - noone here is a jerk really, they all have the capability of being jerks, sure, but don't we all. I'm a fairly new person, I post quite a lot though, and even I can tell that they have a community - fair play to newcomers, but don't come in and try to change things, or complain about the way things are done. I've yet to see a forum that allows that to happen. I've never found anyone here to be particularly disagreeable - apart from Coldangel, once or twice, but that's just personal experience.

i'm also used to a forum that is much more lenient. Lenient? They let you say "cunt" here, and post pictures of boobs. How much more lenient could it possibly get? as futurama is such a cool show, id expect their fans to be as well.
Would you just stop being so uncool?!Jeez... you want some cheese with your whine?People come in here acting like they only just discovered the show exists two minutes ago, and proceed to spam the place up with a plethora of discussion topics that we've already done a thousand times before, and then they don't even show the courtesy of spelling any of it correctly. Yeah, old hands get annoyed about that.

And they say they don't like peel but they won't F off. This is where the banstick comes in handy.
False. Even if somebody says, "I hate PEEL, you're all a lot of lousy douches," this doesn't necessarily mean a banning is in order. Lots of PEELers dislike PEEL at times, but voicing one's displeasure isn't grounds for whipping out ye olde banstick. The community should try to embrace and educate these new members, not force them out with a banning. You would've been banned long ago if we went by your idea. Expect a 'noob surge' when the new season is released. We thought that there would have been a large surge when the DVDs came out too. Looking around, doesn't seem to be exactly true. The make-up of PEEL is collectively much younger now (younger being post-2005, in my opinion), but nowhere near the surge expected. However, given that these will be actual episodes aired on a cable network first run, I expect some jolt in membership. And I expect a lot of these people will be stereotypical "noobs", especially considering these episodes are airing on Comedy Central, a place I find less nerdy and more likely to propagate noobs than, say, [adult_swim].

But some people who have just joined PEEL like Futurama_Freak1 (yes I know he's not that new) will contribute to PEEL greatly. "omigod! i jst watshed futurama 4 th 1st time eva and i am itz biggest fan! lol lol omg brb, do u guyz fink dat fri and lila shud hav babby?"
That just sums it up perfectly!

I just snorted my drink, it's not that funny, but to some extent it could be true. And to be honest - I've seen a few people come in in the time I've been here, some of which haven't been so bad - none seem to stick around but that's besides the point. I don't think I'm too bad for a noob, I came on here with the intention of contributing, and if it wasn't for #fc I'd probably still be too scared to post. The older members can be a little intimidating with the whole "We all know each other" thing. Just don't scare them off - correct them nicely and they might stick around and become valuable meat, ahem, I mean assests to the website.

lol at this one. first off, he makes another mention on incorrect spelling. hey buddy, you do realize that this is a message board right? typing correctly isn't nearly as important as getting ones idea across. secondly, nobody feels like searching through dated threads that are pages long just to ensure that their thread idea is totally new. reposts happen on every forum on the planet, lighten up. id also like to point out that groening and cohen developed this series together. it has a little geekdom(cohen), and a little social satire. expect fans of both.

first off, he makes another mention on incorrect spelling. hey buddy, you do realize that this is a message board right? typing correctly isn't nearly as important as getting ones idea across. Despite popular belief*, not everybody speaks English as their first language. I know, shocking! If you actually type correct English it aides your idea getting across to everybody. You know, because there is a difference between "we're" and "were". secondly, nobody feels like searching through dated threads that are pages long just to ensure that their thread idea is totally new. reposts happen on every forum on the planet, lighten up. If you had actually clicked the link Jezzem supplied in Reply #8 and read it (I'll provide it again here because you obviously didn't read it and seem to be too lazy to do anything), you would've noticed that although you don't pay a membership fee here, others are footing the bill. Every duplicate thread wastes bandwidth. We here at PEEL like to be smart with our money and not waste it for superfluous "reposts" like "z0mg, its niblers shadwo!!1" or "laylas a mutint!1!!" Additionally, if you use the search function then you'll likely find most of your questions have already been answered. Double additionally, you'll likely find that there are ongoing discussions on these topics. Just because "every [other] forum on the planet" allows it doesn't mean it's a good idea. Example: autotune. *In America.
