Perhaps since both of them thought they could still return to their own bodies, they felt there would be no consequences to deal with afterwards.
It would almost be like a very realistic video game.

I wonder how Farnsworth and Zoidy would react if they ever found out...

It was a great episode! I loved it..
Especially the Fry+Leela moments, despite what bodies they were in! LOL

I'd say it's fair to say that was their 'first time' together and it was done in classic Futurama fashion. I mean...they still had the experince of pleasure and closeness, ya know? And by the look of the two of them at the end of episode when back in their own bodies, I assume they went home and tried it again. ;)

I'm happy with the way they handled the ship, enough for the shippers to enjoy, yet horribly funny for the real Futurama fans..

A tip: Just listen to the audio of the episode..or at least the shippy parts! That will make it seem a lot better!!

The writers did have Fry and Leela bickering like a couple.  Their game of "one-up man-ship" is something that couples do at times.  The fact that they took it as far as they did... Yeow!

At least Leela knows that Fry loves her, warts and all.  I'm pretty sure that Fry knows that she loves him also, even though she finds "hiden meanings" in his comments/compliments to her.

I have a wife that does that to me...

The scene of Fry and Leela "consummated" their relationship is going on my mantel.

I'm quite joyous that they did it in different bodies than their own- no condoms! (Condoms suck the fun out of it).

By the way, how is Kelly (that is her name, I'm not very good with names) doing?

All that was needed was both smoking cigarettes while they cuddle in bed.

Thinking of old, decrepit Farnsworth's "equiptment" still working is rather shocking/scary.

Thanks for asking.  She's not doing too well - I can't take care of her anymore so she's now living in a nursing home.  She doesn't recognize most of her friends when they visit her, she sleeps most of the time and she's visably is going downhill.  She still an amazing woman - when she found out (from a friend, not from me) that I have cancer and getting treatments, she called everybody in her cell phone directory and asked them to place me on their "Prayer List".  She never once asked anybody to pray for her.  She was very angry at me for not telling her about my health but I figure that she has enough to worry about, she doesn't need to add my troubles to hers.

I'm going to surprise her soon - I've asked FemJesse to do a commission work for Kelly, which I'll place in a frame and place it on the wall next to her bed so she can see it everyday.

Sorry for my ignorance, but can someone explain the term Shipper and ship to me?

'Ship. Short for relationship.

You should feel very very silly. :p

Just saw the latest one. Sweet and gross.
Also, Fry has now had sex with one of his ancestors, and one of his descendants (even though his descendant's body was occupied by Leela's mind).
Seems like an odd fixation on incest on the part of the writers.

Yeah ColdAngel, I realized that too. Wincest!!! roflmao. But seriously, it's nice to see Fry and Leela act like a real couple for once throughout that entire episode :D

The scene where Fry/Zoidberg and Leela/Farnworth were "making cute" with each other at the PE building was cute/disturbing.  Poor Amy, trapped in Hermes body, lost her appetite - forever.

It was also cute of Hermes to "sacrifice" his body so that Amy would stop destroying Leela's body.

One question - just how far will Leela's stretch pants stretch?

Stretch pants are made to stretch. I'm more impressed by her tank top retaining equal form. As a tank top owner I tell you the elastic in those things are super fickle. Overeat one night in one and you might as well throw it out.

First thing, let's get this out of the way:

:puke: :puke:  :puke:

Second:  Both Fry and Leela must be much kinkier than ever imagined.

I wanted to mention this earlier, but I think that episode is hinting that Fry and Leela's relationship will be noted by extravagant displays of affection and out-of-this-world strange, nasty, disgusting, kinky sex. They were willing to have intercourse underground in the catacombs- that's fairly unusual.

Going off on a Bender, I always imagined them doing in the captain's chair of the Planet Express ship. They would be drunk off their asses and besides the long-term repercussion of offspring, they would also get punished by the company not only for fooling around while on duty but for staining the seat due to misfire of semen.

(P.S.: I'm just awestruck to see that Leela liked having sex with Fry. Former lovers of Fry have denied otherwise.)

Well, I'm sure Fry and Leela enjoy doing the nasty!
And I've said before, I think Fry is probably pretty good in bed, I mean...he has experience, and Colleen seemed to enjoy it. Lol. He has to be good at something...
And on that note, that part from the Sting was a dream, so those women may not think that in real life...and it was LEELA's dream so of course her brain might assume that Fry is a bad lover.
But yeah, now she knows otherwise ;)

I don't want to imply that Fry is unskilled, but with Leela in a man's body... well the path to physical satisfaction is straight and narrow.  Hard to fail there.

Hey, how did such perversion and the possibility of transmitting marine parasites get into a shipper thread?  Oh, yeah, this is Futurama.

Ah, yes, it sure does make it better.  I had a dream with that audio over the scene from one of the anthology/what-if episodes where Fry and Leela end up in bed.

I assume that they did/will do that at some point and probably not waste much time getting to it either, but I'm not sure I picked up much of a couple vibe from them post-transformation.

While that's a really different thought, I would also bet that if Leela hadn't taken the precaution of turning Bender "OFF", he would be recording the entire act and be charging big bucks for people to view on "GalacticNet".

I have an idea that Leela has a huge strap-on and Fry loves her enough to allow her to use it on him...

Hey, you opened the door!  I have the ideea that Freako may take this as inspiration.  Actually, he's done so much Futurama art, both appropriate for PEEL and the place-that-shall-not-be-mentioned, I would suspect he may have a little "burnout" going on.

Quote
(P.S.: I'm just awestruck to see that Leela liked having sex with Fry. Former lovers of Fry have denied otherwise.)

Speaking as a guy who has had one-night-stands, friends with benefits, women he dated just to be dating and the two women that he really loved, I can say that the sex with somebody you really, really love is very different.  This guy (me) will go very much out of his way to make sure his partner is satisfied - IF it's a woman that I really love and care about.  The other women, well, they don't get the "extra" thought and effort.

So that's how I would envision Fry (after the "first time jitters") - He would do everything in the world to make her happy and satisfied.

I know that a lot of non-shippers dread the random insertion of Fry and Leela's relationship into otherwise un-shippy episodes, but I think "Lrrreconcilable Ndndifferences" is a great example of an episode that actually benefits from the ship. I mean, it was a so-so episode, light on both gags and plot, that gained a bit of emotional resonance (or at the very least earned some Cute Points) by including that comic book subplot. I mean, it progressed along with the rest of the episode--nothing was really forced into the main plot to satisfy the subplot--and ended it on a sweet note. This is a drastic change from "Attack of the Killer App", which added a singing butt boil to the mix and brought the Fry/Leela relationship to the fore when it didn't necessarily have to be.

I don't know if this makes any sense. I guess what I'm saying is that the ship was actually the highlight of an otherwise non-shippy episode, which proves that the writers can keep Fry and Leela together without adversely affecting the show.

Spoilers sprinkled throughout:

I also didn't "feel the love" from Leela's reaction to Fry being turned into a black smudge in Lrrreconcilable Ndndifferences and I really noticed her lack of rejoicing when he was found.  I know they don't have the time to devote to the relationship, but her circumspect behavior makes it look like she doesn't want to show too much emotion (so atypical for a female and not in the good way that Leela is atypical, either).  It makes it seem that she just isn't nearly as invested in Fry as he is in her.  It would have made a lot of viewers roll their eyes, but she should have been in a panic until he was found and then broken down in tears.  I know she's got the strong personality but that breaks down when you think you've lost someone so close.

Looking back on this season so far, from Rebirth to The Mutants are Revolting, I don't particularly see a pattern or flow to the ship but overall it is so much stronger and obviously more overt than ever.  Still not sure what to make of the casual sex "mile deep club" reference preceding the first-ever, actual, factual bed scene in Prisoner of Benda (non-alternate-universe and no-what-if-machines involved!).   Maybe the way these episodes were produced with various writers being contracted on a freelance basis led to something of a continuity slip.  Maybe the producers do not believe that recreational sex between them or even the notion that there could be recreational sex figures into the development of the relationship.  Sure, friendships can get sexual and I suppose lead to love and not regret, but Fry has been on a full-on romantic quest since, since... well, for a long damn time.

I've dwelt too long on the odd, halting pace of this period and on my confusion of where Leela really stands.  Overall, things are looking good.  The relationship is prominent but not driving the show too much and right now, in the gap between the ending of "Revolting" and the airing of "Holiday Val-U-Pak" there's plenty of warm fuzziness in which to get lost.

I wonder if Matt and David are trying to gauge how long the show will run before they decide how quickly to speed up the relationship? Of course they still have to decide how it will all end.
If we think that 2011 will be the REAL end of the series, we should at least be spared all the loose ends.
We still think 2011 will be the end, right?  :(

Now here's a thing: my wife thought Lrrreconcilable Ndndifferences was too shippy and too blatant about the shippiness. She tends to RAGE when it gets like that (her exact words were that it felt like a badly written PEEL fanfic, accompanied by much profanity) but Mutants are Revolting, according to her, was perfect even though I would have thought the relationship was much more prominent in that one. Some of the writers just can't seem to write relationships properly.

She should stay away from the Sean Penn school for anger management then. :laff: Well continuity has never been a strong point of the show and since a major story line is the ship, I guess you cannot expect logical progression there either. After 10 years and 100 episodes I hardly think a couple of kisses would qualify as overly shippy.
Now the sex scene in POB. Funny!
