Well, she had had four years (between the end of the series and BBS) in which to grow it, which would explain her dismayed expression when Bender's flaming belch burns it back into it's familiar, thatchy bristle.

Actually, I was referring to that miniskirt. Miniskirts really aren't that bad when they actually are the eight inches only above the knees they're supposed to be. Microskirts, which are slightly smaller, also have their uses, such as just managing not to conceal Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. (Remind me to stop having lunch with the girls, maybe I'll stop knowing this gossip.) However, I can't think of any decent use outside of the metaphorical bedroom for the nanoskirt that Leela is barely able to wear in that scene.

Not that the showing off of the female legs is distasteful, no, not at all. There's simply hundreds of more tasteful ways available than that dress.

Being disturbed by how a two-eyed Leela looked made me realise just how used to the one-eyed version I had become. But given how quickly I got used to her new look in the episode I'd have to say that I'd probably have ended up preferring the two-eyed look if it had lasted for several episodes.

Leela's better with one eye. Saying that she's more appealing with two is like suggesting the three-breasted prostitute in Total Recall would be hotter with only two breasts. That's just not right, and I'll challenge anyone in the Thunderdome if they disagree.

Uniqueness is awesome... unless it's a really gross uniqueness with pus coming out of it.

Incidentally, it's curious that the two animated females I'm most attracted to both have purple hair... Leela, and Major Motoko Kusanagi.

Motoko's hair isn't even real.  It's probably plastic.  She could probably have any color hair she wanted.
