I gotta go with Leela. I'm always surprised at how fine of a singer Katey Sagal is (especially during the holophoner opera in "The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings" ).

I would have to agree with you. Katey is awesome and I think my favorite song she sings is "whalers on the moon" but maybe my favorite singing moment is Zapp singing The Kinks  "Lola" to Leela

Leela is definitly the best singer but I can never keep a straight face through Zapp singing "Leela".

The best and worst is easy to pick. Zapp being the worst, and Leela being the best. However... the real question is: who's in the middle rankings between them? In what order?

Hermes did some great singing in "How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back". Fry is really good (especially in "Devil's Hands..." ). Bender is solid, even if he's mostly relegated to "low" parts ("My crimes were merely boyish pranks..." ). Amy and the Professor did very little singing over the course of the series, usually just a line or two during a song.

Leela's the best, of course, though I actually thought Hermes was quite good in I May As Well Jump.

Bender always had the best lines.

Most of the time.

Yeah, but it's not really about the lines, it's about how well they sang.  :p

After further thought I've come to the conclusion that there is somebody who comes very close to Leela's singing ability. I speak of course of the 'Robotic Prince of Darkness' also known as the Robot Devil.

The Robot Devil's crooning skills are unsurpassed.  ;)

Katey Sagal used to sing backup for Bette Middler.

I think one of his best moments is just the way he sings the very beginning of the song.

Fry: "Look, what do you want?"

Robot Devil: "I want my hands back!"

I would pay a fat stack of cash to hear Leela/Katey Sagal do a cover of Massive Attack's "Protection".  :)

As a character, Hermes.  But as an actor, I would say Billy West.  I am blown away how he can do the singing voices of so many characters who have very unusual voices from one another... but he makes it convincing.  Huzzah to him!

Leela I think Katie Segal is an accomplished musical actor. Although Kiff singing "Total Eclipse of the Heart" always kills me.

Not the best singing but Zapp doing "Hungery Like The Wolf" is one of the funniest things I've ever heard.

Edit: Smartass.

I don't even know why this topic exists.  The best singing in planet express history is Fry's walking on sunshine.

I've seen that commercial before. The song itself was only half of what made it so funny, the rest was the fact that it was Zapp singing it.

Does beatboxing count as singing? You could make a case for Bender's beatboxing being very entertaining.
