That is a very good point. She may have been getting more jackass lessons one the side. Still I think the other theories work a bit better. Screwed up childhood and to a greater extent, puppet of the writers.

Speaking of "puppet for the writers" type stuff, really the main thing BBS did for me and my treatment of the ship was shatter all of those psychological explanations for Leela's "reset button" behavior through Season 4. With it happening all over again in BBS, it got rid of any sort of development of the 'ship that I may have perceived, and it replaced with more of an "oh, it's all the same all those times" view, which is probably much healthier. So as of now, I'm still a shipper, but I'm also ready to take whatever direction the ship goes without a ton of preference (or overanalyzation. See: Ralph Snart), so long as it's entertaining. Which it will be, of course.

I think that would work well.

Yeah, that could; especially if (and I hope this isn't the case) the show didn't come back. Then it'd be like 'Devil's Hands'; it would be a matter of opinion whether or not it was 'happily ever after' or not.

And km73 had a good point, too:

Oh, also, another reason I think there may be some scope for Leela chasing Fry in the next film is not only because of his new so-called "girlfriend", but because that's one area the writers haven't really explored yet. I still think they would couch it in terms more of her worrying about him for "not being himself", but maybe it could lead to her having some kind of revelation or epiphany.

It's a pity that the writers don't pay more attention to folks like us; we'd have all their writing problems solved instantly!  :)

Seriously though, that would be a great direction to take; Leela's done that kind of chasing before, after all, so it wouldn't be unnatural for her to do it again (though maybe more people around her might have a hard time believing it would just be to 'save him from himself'). And her having a major realisation (or another one, depending on your POV) about Fry would be a good thing, whether or not they were to end up togther by 'Green Yonder' - it's about time she had an epiphany or two with regards to a certain delivery boy.  :)

It's not exactly a shippy question, but I was wondering if Fry hadn't been infected with worms in PL, would he have realized what Leela's comment about "who he's become" was something to be concerned about?

Also, Leela started to have doubts about them even before he made a faux pas by mentioning Amy, based just on the knowledge that Fry could no longer play the holophoner and that he got rid of his worms.

Yeah, I just watched the episode again

Parasites Lost is just one of the many episodes where Leela shows her shallow side.

Though mentioning a past girlfriend probably wasn't a good move either...

She was confused at first, and then surprised, but not angry. The Amy thing caused the kneejerk reaction. I think if he hadn't said that he probably still would have gotten lucky.

I'm not sure if Fry would've gotten lucky regardless. Leela was très shallow in Parasites Lost; I don't think not mentioning Amy would've gotten him an all-access pass to Leela's southern hemisphere. Mentioning Amy surely did make his chances less, but not mentioning Amy wouldn't have much anyway, in my opinion.

Her body language didn't indicate confusion, it looked more like "get away from me!" And that was right after Fry messed up playing a holophoner.

See?

Doesn't Leela in the second picture Xanfor posted look a lot like Coldy's style? Hmm...

Uh oh, nasty one eyed biatch coming through. Th clentched fist really makes it look like she's about to hit him...and if she hadn't been holding the sheet she might've.

*sarcasm* I mean come on, Fry was her 'perfect' guy with the worms, the he gets rid of them and his perfectness and is no longer good enough for Princess Narcissistic, because obviously someone who's done so much for her isn't good enough.

Nopers, that was just after he explained to her that the sonnet for Leela may have been "50-50" between him and the worms, while he's begging her for another chance to be romantic on his own. Man, what a suck-up! I guess love does that to you...

I suppose that kinda wrecks the first bit of Shiny's story too. How could she begin to relent, when she's scowling at him like that?

Then again, perhaps the animators got lazy and simply re-used the shot of "Angry Leela" from the next scene

We don't really know what went on in Leela's head through that scene all we can base it on is what we saw and the way Leela reacted was a little over the top. she didn't even give him a chince. She knows that Fry doesn't think about what he says a lot and Fry probably didn't even think that there was any problem with mentioning an ex.

Leela just needs to look past the outside immatuirty to see that Fry is actually mature. Yeah he may not be the sharpest tool hence he mention of the ex which significantly lowered his chances of getting lucky. Fry loves her and she knows it. But there must be a sorta of block that the writers have added in to to keep her from getting closer to Fry.

Yeah; Leela doesn't come out of PL looking that good, regardless of when she pulls that particular face. (Even nice folks have off days, after all.)

And apart from mentioning Amy (which I agree was a dumb move), Fry'd already made a bigger mistake - pointing out to Leela that she was in the wrong. Tends not to be the best tactic when you're trying to score.  :)
