I'm fairly sure I'm months too late for this, that it has been said before more thoroughly and eloquently and that I'm about to be shouted down, but... what the hey. Here I go!

Was anyone else mildly irritated that despite the fact Fry and Leela were technically on the verge of mutually consenting marriage, there seemed to be almost zero ship factor between the two in the movie?

No, not really. I was just irritated by Lars in general.

And for the record, Fry and Bender is one of my favorite shippings on Futurama (I like it in the friendship sense only, of course).


Besides Fry and Bender, I also like the ship with Fry and Nibbler (again, they have an interesting friendship, even if Fry only cleans Nibbler's poop and helps him save the universe).  ^^

I tend to work on the principle that they went on a few dates but then Fry did something, or Leela did something and it just fizzled out again. These things happen.

They did not date, but merely fell into an extremely deep friendship with each other that Fry was content to maintain until competition arose two years later. *

The thing about them dating after TDHAIP, if they did, then that just means the relationship malfunctioned again. The reason they deleted that scene I guess was that they wanted to be more subtle in implying what might've happened.

I think Xanfor hit the nail on the head there. Fry probably figured he was making progress but didn't want to push it too much for fear of screwing up/making Leela mad. At least until Lars showed up.

I still think that if Leela and Fry were dating after The Devil's Hands, there'd be a reference to that in BBS. Of course, it still leaves open the possibility that they went out exactly once, and Fry screwed it up somehow.

I'm sorry, Mistress, I'm afraid I can't do that.

There's nothing wrong with your eyelashes, however. In fact, they're quite nice eyelashes. It's just that you need to be a sysop on the wiki in order to unlock pages, a status that I, despite my grievous workings, have been thus far unable to achieve.

However, since it's taking so long, I'll see if I can attempt to draw this imperative situation to a sysop's attention.
