I'm too much of a pessimist. I think Leela will actually go through her marriage with Lars (assumed from reviews). That would certainly cause controversy.

You don't mean it sends a message of anti-shippiness, don't you? *is scared*

Fry was pursuing Leela during the entire episode of Cyber House Rules. He was just being more intelligent about it than usual.

Last time I had a huge low from watching a movie was probably The Matrix Revolutions, because Trin and Neo died, and I was an uber-goth matrix try-hard back then. Before that The End of Evangelion left me somewhat depressed, although it left many other anime fans suicidal... Ugh. I'm sure if the movie is depressing it'll be good depressing... like Jurassic Bark or TKOS... right? Bwahaha, huge manatee...

Hey, So I apologize for the scattered posts above. For various reasons I have not slept much for a couple of days, and it is always dangerous to write anything permanent in that state. My intention in posting about the movie in this thread was that I thought that shippers might appreciate a shipper-themed review of what's coming. However, for fear of spoilers I was so vague that I think I've caused more confusion and trepedation than insight. Maybe it's better that way. So I've thought it through carefully and I've crafted the statement below as my "minireview" on the topic. There are no spoilers on the plot itself; rather, it comments on the nature of the plot and its context within the overall canon. Now you smarties can probably deduce some indications of plot from these statements; however, I believe that those deductions won't lead any further than what is online now anyway. So here is what I really want to say upon reflection: This movie probably has one of the most ambitious and daring Leela/Fry relationship plotlines attempted on this series, and the fact that it's within a movie magnified this fact. The story is very good, with some interesting twists. It occasionally gets very depressing, but also uplifting, but our favorite characters definitely go through the wringer. I won't say anything about how it ends. Viewed outside the context of the previous Futurama canon, it is an excellent and haunting storyline, that still has me thinking about it days afterward. Viewed within the context of the previous Futurama canon, though, there are some inconsistencies that have left me feeling a bit down, because it is hard for me to reconcile certain events in the last two seasons with what happens here. So I am 'grieving' certain aspects of past canon, and I think other fans may find a little 'controversy' in this. However, that said, it's clear that the Fry/Leela dynamic has moved front and center of the Futurama story arc. I'd say about 1/3 to maybe 1/2 of the movie concerns this relationship, so there's going to be a lot to talk about in the future. So given the choice between keeping the canon and no more Futurama, or keeping this pretty impressive movie and what follows at the price of some inconsistency, I'm going with the latter! But man, hang on. It's no coincidence that 'shipping' and 'suffering' begin with the same letter. And Coldangel's going to be especially pleased by certain aspects of this movie I think. But since he has SPD, he probably won't care.

Well I don't know what to think. I'm kinda stuck somewhere between giddiness, depression, hope and fear. Please note that this total chaos is due to all of you and your small hits about the movie. My mind kinda has a tendancy to fill in the rest and knowing my mind....

We're all canon fodder. Haha, see what I did there? Classic. And Coldangel's going to be especially pleased by certain aspects of this movie I think. There are big bare Leela boobies?! Frontal? Unobstructed? Visible nipples?!? Awesome. But since he has SPD, he probably won't care. Meh.

Bendersfan, strong bases are just as bad as acid.
Thanks for the mini review, JN. Well I'd think that anything shippy, positive or not, in the new movie would keep me happy, as long as it's not the center of the whole story.
Wouldn't a big bare Leela butt be almost as good? Reliable sources indicate that possibility.

*tosses Kryten a concentrated bottle of NaOH* ...Well, it could neutralize it. Maybe. :P Your spoilers only further intrigue and concern me, JustNibblin', and this is just the shipping aspect. O_o' But I appreciate that you're posting them, nonetheless. Wouldn't a big bare Leela butt be almost as good? Reliable sources indicate that possibility. But we've already seen her butt, haven't we?

Jurassic Bark was never depressing to me, because it never occurred to me that Seymour actually died at the end. After all, he had just laid down, and was found dead standing up. Obviously his story wasn't yet over... Parasites Lost, now that was good depressing. It had a point, that did. TKoS had no point. It was bad depressing. To me, it never happened. It may have chanced to occur, but it never truly existed, like the full stop after 'Dr' on a 'Dr Pepper' can. Originally posted by JustNibblin':

But we've already seen her butt, haven't we? True, but it wasn't exactly, um, "big". Besides, being in a conga line with a naked Farnsworth sorta killed the moment I know that. I had a 93 average in chem last year. Geez, calm down... if it makes you feel any better, I was lousy at chemistry.

I had a similar issue with the episode; I knew he was supposed to die, but every time I watch it, it just doesn't look like he's dying. It just look like he laid down to take a nap. I'm scared to read any of those big blue highlighted bits on this page. Don't be. I have no idea what we were hiding... JN's hiding something, but I think he's hidden it somewhere in Gringotts.
