So, this guy Sean, the Dean, and whazzizname from "Love and Rocket"--and Al The Shapeshifting Space-Roach. And Zap, the buttshifting space-roach. Fry's risked his life and well-being for her a few times, reunited her with her parents, and on and on... OH, BUT FRY'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE CYCLOPS THAT DID IT WITH TWO ROACHES. Who's next, Truck Stop Guy? Ipji? (She tried, and he's married!) H.G.Blob? URL? Wurmstrom?
Fry, dude, you shoulda stuck with Amy.

Fry, dude, you shoulda stuck with Amy. This is so very true! She sleeps with Zapp Brannigan but she won't even go out with Fry? Yes, I want Fry and Leela to get together in the series finale, but she's snobby and unfair sometimes.

Leela is not snobby! She's just put off by Fry's immatureness and stupidity.

ok, i could go into great detail and length to try to despute this, but i don't have the time or energy. Go down to the Fry/Leela getting together thread and read pretty much the whole thing from the beginning to end for all the shippers theories on why Leela reacts to him the way she does. There are several good theories. It's not just snobbishness on her part, theres a bunch of psychological issues going on there.

It was a totally mutual decision.

I just had a idea. Maybe they brought up Sean because he was an unresolved part of Leela's love life. The audience never knew what exactly happened to them after WMIBACIL. So they brought him up in L&R to provide closure and so the audience could be absolutely sure she wasn't involved with someone, which would be great because L&R was a Leela/Fry-heavy ep and with Sean (or anyone else) out of the picture L/F could hook up. Fry then did a really wonderful thing and risked his life for her but she was still extremely heartbroken from her breakup with Sean so she didn't hook up with Fry because she might get hurt again. Leela also said that she learned from her breakup with Sean that you can't change a man. So maybe, even though Fry is great, she thought she could never change him and make him more mature (she hates his childishness) so she gave up on the idea of getting together with him. Am I reading too deeply into a guy we haven't even seen and who has only been mentioned twice?

Remember, between the two times she mentions Sean, she gets involved with Alkazar, Fry, Adlai, and Fry again (if you count that). So I don't think she's too broken about Sean during "L&R," unless she got back together and broke up with him again right before that episode, and that would be assuming too much. So why didn't she hook up with Fry after that episode? I think it was just supposed to advance their relationship, but not to the point that she would have been unwilling to get involved with someone else later.

I thought about doing a complete timeline of Leela's romantic life, but that might be too creepy.

No, Sean have never showed up in the comics. But if the show had lived on, I'm sure we would eventual get to see Sean, and how he get his comeupance (courtesy of Leela, ofcourse. Noone can dish out asswhopping like the fair cyclops ) Originally posted by Gocad: It was about time that someone mentioned that.
I mentioned it several posts up. I call copycat on that.

At that point she didn't know Zapp was a pompous bofoon. She'd only heard the rumors and the PR whizpop. Zapp was the Hero of The Octillian System, the Victor Of The Assisted Living Nebula, the Conqueror of The Pacifists, in short Zapp was known as the hero of DOOP and was known as an upstanding citizen.
She was shocked that Zapp refused to help save the animals of Vergon 6, but he could refer to the law of DOOP, and thus was only following order. When Leela saw Zapp crying she fell for his con, that he was really just a lonely and slightly pathetic human being, so desperate for human contact he'd lost all sense of desent behaviour.
She took pity on him, and fell for it. And she'll never let pity guide her actions so easily again. Sad, but probably true.
