Also, if Fry's subconscience generated this dance sequence and Leela's subconsciencee generated the one in the Venusian garden how can they not end up together?  They both imagined/dreamt of holding each other close and Fry did not end up with a black eye in either one.

PS: Josh's pic reminds me.  In my prolonged absence, which I'm sure was widely discussed and mourned I spent a little time on a ship of a different sort.  Don't call me a two-timer though; I thought about the pair in our 'ship every day (well, half of the pair anyway).

Gosh, a whole wiki to Futurama!  Hyuk!  I'm such a rube.  Thanks for the nod, Xan IV.  Great to see there is a Zoidberg shipper, too.  Zoidberg deserves so much more love than he's getting.

And I'm absolutely certain this will be the one thread on PEEL that will never die, even if folks resort to pasting entire episodes frame by frame.  There will be a lot of new 'seed' with the new episodes too!  Can't wait!

Sorry, Zoidy, can't draw.  Can barely even cut and paste.  I'll leave it to Sedna, who made one heck of a nice picture.

Oh geez, and here I was thinking Wikipedia's articles on Futurama covered the territory--had no idea there were 2 additional wikis!  (stamp noob on forehead here).

The fan fic entry in wikipeelia was really useful--I would not have been able to locate fanfics by certain posters otherwise--maybe I'm just lousy with the PEEL search engine(wouldn't be surprised).

Out of curiosity what was the earliest shipping thread?  "Fry and Leela sitting in a tree..."?  Anyone know? Remember? Care?

The reason why the search may not work is that you have to first set the search thing to Fan art and Fiction, then type a username in. It may not be obvious at the what is or isn't a fic at first. Most have the title of the story, or perhaps their name's in the title, like mine and possibly Xanfor's....Anyways,the word "fanfic" can also be found in many a title, and the newer ones being posted are worth reading, no matter how short.

So much in fact that he was gonna give up his life on the surface for her, but as soon as he figured out he couldn't score with her he went running in the opposite direction. that's not love. What if something happened to Leela and she couldn't 'perform up to par' would he leave her too? She probably thinks so. His relationship with the Lucy Lui bot could imply to her that all he wants is a sexual partner. Lucybot had no real personality of her own. She was programmed to find everything he did amazing and to make out. She had no opinions or ideas of her own, and Fry was completely satisfied with that. i would want my guy to be  just as interested in my mind as my body. And i would hope a truly nice guy would eventually get bored of a mindless makeout drone and want a real emotional connection. Leela & Fry are always together, i think it's safe to say that Fry is her closest friend. She may be afraid to risk that close friendship for a relationship that to her seems doomed to fail.

 and i don't think it's very fair to get pissed at her for it. If all you wanted was a commitment and the only guy that seemed interested is known for short mostly sexual relationships with no real substance would you jump in? Probably not. i wouldn't. yeah us looking in from the outside can see that they would make a great match but you have to see it from her angle. We know things about Fry that she doesn't. a lot of the truly romantic gestures he has done for her he did without her knowledge and some of his poorest romantic decisions he had right in front of her. Plus her history is full of guys that treated her poorly, its all she really knows, so there are probably psychological issues keeping her wary. People with emotional baggage tend to protect themselves more. If she dates a guy she doesn't know very well and it goes bad and they break up then she never has to see that person again, but she sees Fry everyday, if things went bad, if Fry got tired of her and left her and she had let herself fall in love with him, then she has to face that hurt everyday. of course we know he would never get tired of her, but that is all she has seen of his past relationships and has no real reason to suspect otherwise.
