Are Amy and Zoidberg friends?

I find it kind of funny that in "Amazon Women in the Mood" all of the pictures of Amy in Kif's room seem to be of Amy and Zoidberg, but in the run of the show the two of them don't spend much time together

Kif bought them off Bender who was going to use them to blackmail Amy by threatening to send them to her coolest friends...

It's not that Amy particularly likes Zoidberg, it's just that Zoidy is one of those people who always wants to be in the picture whenever he sees someone taking one.  Amy is just too nice to mind.

In my opinion, except for Hermes, it's not that no one likes Zoidberg, but more that everyone is completely indifferent to him. Zoidberg also seems like one of those people who gets on your nerves a lot, but you still like to be around him. Notice, in Where The Buggalo Roam, Amy's parents extremely detest Zoidberg, and Amy seems to get fed up with him too when he rides the gokart, but in The Why of Fry Amy is hanging out with him at the beginning of the episode. Also, in Put Your Head on My Shoulders When Fry invites Zoidberg on there drive, Amy doesn't seem to mind him.

Infact, this is the case with many people. Although I can't remember the episode, there is one quote that suggests Leela doesn' mind him(paraphrased of course):

Leela: Sound like a job for myself, Fry, Bender, and Zoidberg if he wants to come.

Zoidberg: No, I'm good.

Leela also talks to Zoidberg for advice about Fry in Time Keeps on Slippin', and I don't think she would talk to someone she didn't like for advice. now, it is true that in that same episode, Zoidberg is shown having his birthday alone, and also says, "you don't want to end up alone and lonely like Zoidberg(cries)." However, I believe Zoidberg has a severe case of insecurity, but at the same time latches on to people in an attempt to get over his insecurity. Obviously, not many people hate him or they wouldn't argue for him A Taste of Freedom.

Zoidberg is one of those people everyone, except a select few like Zoidberg and that Austrailian Dude he sent to a life of slavery, is completely indifferent too. They don't really care that it is his birthday, but they don't wish he would die. Leela obviously doesn't mind him, Fry definately doesn't seem to, and in some cases Amy doesn't mind him either. Now, the more important question is why am I spending all my time making this detailed analysis about a cartoon, when I could be outside with friends being more productive? I leave you to answer that.

Nah.  Amy and Zoidberg aren't friends.  Amy can't stand to be around him.  She finds him disgusting.  Sometimes, Amy and everyone else can tolerate Zoidberg.

You know what I thought when, after reading earlier posts on this thread, I looked at Amazon WITM?

You don't care?  Ah, screw you.  Those pictures of Amy and Zoidberg look a lot like those three or four pictures you get in those tiny photo booths at malls.  I'd bet Amy had them taken (and Zoidberg elbowed his way in) so that Kif would have something to remember her by, besides the Titanic disaster photos.

By the time "Kif Gets Knocked up a Notch", he has many more Amy photos on his wall, most of which lack Zoidberg.

Also in "Obsoletely Fabulous" Bender tells Robot 1X, "Save my friends, and Zoidberg," which means Bender doesn't claim Dr. Z as a friend, but he still doesn't want him to die

Professor Farnsworth doesn't seems to like Zoidberg. In Teenage Mutant Leela Hurdles, he uses his last words to curse Zoidberg :

"With my last breath I curse Zoidberg!"

But in the other hand, in The Cryonic Woman, everyone seem to like Zoidberg when the crew is fired from Planet Express.

Look, Zoidberg would be happy having his picture taken with Knifey-McKnife Roberto.  "Hooray!  I'm helping!"

I figure no Earthican is fond of Zoidberg.  But the Decapodians can enslave us, so, hey, I guess we do some gratuitous hiring to please them.  Same reason Morbo co-stars with Linda.

What Dr. Z. is is the office schmuck.  Like Andy Dick's character in Newsradio, or Les Nessman in WKRP.  Or Frank Burns in MASH, or -- well, I'm sure you can probably think of others.  It's comedy gold to have an incompetent staffer.  Besides our hero, that is.

I mean, would the show really be as funny if there weren't somebody on it who's stupider than Fry?  (Stupider than Fry in every way!  -- Oh, wait, that's been used.)

Like other people have said, I don't think anyone hates Dr.Z. it's just, with eating garbage, being a bad doctor, and being annoying sometimes and all, he's a little, what's the word...dislikable?

Back to him and Amy, I think if they were friends she would have invited him to her baby shower.

In 'Kif gets knocked up a notch' Fry says that all those invited have arrived.

Then Zoidberg adds - "Also Zoidberg!"

So, if Zoidberg wasn't invited, they can't be that good friends...

amy and zoidberg may not be the closest of friends, but many signs point to her and at least some of the other crew members at least tolerating him. they seem to flip back and forth. in KGNUAN, she seemed to allow him to come to the baby shower without that much fuss. but then, in AOI 1, she didnt seem to mind tricking him with a guinea pig at all (it was an alternate reality, but if it were real she almost certainly would have still done it.) so, it can flip-flop. she's tolerant, but not very good friends of Dr.Z.

I like how your aviator depicts the kind of expression you would have when posting. I think that, unlike most of the other PE members, Amy doesn't mind Zoidberg's company but as already mentioned, too much of him leads to mild irritation.

He wasn't invited; he just showed up, and Amy wasn't bothered enough to do anything about it.  I think it's the same thing with the pictures.
