i don't think this has been done before but if it has i am sorry. but do you think fry and leala were meant to be.

i think yes beasuse in the show were they all turn into kids {i don't know the name} it seems as if leala was meant to become an adult and in the why of fry nibbler say she must be the other {or something like that}

All kids are.

The episode was named "Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles".

I agree.  Fry and Leela are both lonely hearts.   And that's why I believe they were meant to be. In "The Why of Fry" Leela was considered 'the other' and why never found out why.  Perhaps when the DVD movies come, that will be explained.

Short Answer: Yes.

Longer answer: Still yes;
  • The authors put a lot of effort in developing the Fry/Leela "thing."
  • It's been a significant part of a number of ep's.
  • They've had any number of "near misses."
  • Fry succeeded in winning Leela's heart twice that I can think of just off the top of my head ("PL" & "TKOS" )
  • Fry abjectly loves her; heck, he almost died] for her, twice.
  • Through the series Fry never once truly gave up on her.
  • Through the series Leela became, at least, more tolerant of Fry.
Whether they ever actually have a romantic, loving, intimate relationship* is another issue.
If they aren't meant to be together, it seems an awful waste of a compelling plot line.   :(

*I frickin' hate that word! :mad:

Also;
It's "Fry," not "fry."
It's "Leela," not "leala."
It's that nasty anal streak in me again...
  :hmpf:

Actually, I think the Leela-Fry romance started in the first episode (Space Pilot) where it's established that both Leela and Fry are orphans (of a sort) and therefore empathize with each other.  Fry even trusts Leela to make his life decision for him.

And I could quote other episodes, but others have done a better job before.

Ultimately, I think that Leela and Fry are meant to be sweethearts.  Married?  Eh, maybe in the finale.  But certainly their mutual attraction has been amply demonstrated in the series so far.  Especially in the later episodes.

Fry and Leela has to be the best I've ever seen! You all should be proud that you all support this romance as much as I do! I dont care what anybody says about this romance. Fry loves Leela with all his heart, and just wants her to give him ONE chance to prove it.

P.S: If they get together, I wonder what their kids will look like...   ;)

Someone drew a picture of that...

I'd say something else, but Space nailed it.

You might as well close this thread right now actually.

I know I keep agreeing with him/her. I can't help it if he/she's right, now can I?

Close this thread?  Maybe you're not searching in the correct universe.  Although the moderators may take after the Professor.

After all, as Professor Farnsworth A says (in the Parabox episode):   "Nonsense! I would never do such a thing unless you were already having been going to do that!"

Leela. Leela. Leela. Leela with two e's. Say it with me now. Leela.

Right. Now write it out a thousand times. Leela. Leela.

Fry and Leela were clearly meant to be... in Universe 1/B. But not in Universe A. In Universe A, things turned out differently. Perhaps the wrong way? Almost certainly. But that's how comedy works. Things go wrong.

Leela. C'mon, spell it with me. L. E. E. L. A. I know you can do it...

Not everyone thinks that Fry and Leela were made for each other.  Me, for example....

Yes, it's pretty clear that the writers intend[ed] to make Fry and Leela the main pairing on the show, even if they only implied it in the existing seasons, but there are enough hurdles standing in the way of their desires that it would take a lot of effort from both parties to make things actually work.

As for "the other," I've never taken that to mean that Fry and Leela are destined to hook up, get married, and have lots of little freakish, half mutant children.  I always interpreted it on a more platonic level: Leela's simply "the other" person involved in the destruction of the Brain Spawn (or whoever the ultimate evil being turns out to be).  That doens't mean there isn't some level of romance involved (revenge for a slayed lover?), but I don't think Nibbler would be so interested in that part of the prophecy if it were merely about Fry's future love interests.

Just my two cents.

Edit: Woo!  I'm a delivery... person!

It depends on how much I dwell on the pros and cons of their relationship, or what episode I've just seen.   :p  I usually ship F/L, but I wouldn't exactly be disappointed with, say, a Fry/Amy pairing, either.

As I do recall, Officer 1BDI, you DID review my story "Angels" on FF.net. It went something like this:

"I think every F/L shipper in the Futurama universe has imagined these scenes in one form or another. I know I have."

When did you start liking Fry and Amy? That's disgusting.

I remember that story.  And I remember that review.  And I still stand by it.

Keep in mind, I said I usually ship F/L.  It's the couple I have the most support for, and it's the couple I'd expect the show to stick with.  That said, there are times when I wonder if a F/A pairing would work, and if I ignore the outcome of PYHoMS, I think that it still has some potential.  I don't see why imaging an alternative scenario is disgusting.   :hmpf:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is the annoyance stemming from my "Fry and Leela weren't made for each other" comment?  I didn't mean to outright deny the idea that they should be a couple, just the theory that they would easily make a perfect couple.  I was just trying to imply that they're too different for things to progress so easily for them, nothing more.

Of course they're meant to be! The are both rejects of society, it difficult life situations, and they share a love for each other. (In Leela this may only be a love for a friend, but it's still love!)
