I searches the site and couldn't find this question even being asked, let alone answered.

We know Fry's father's name is Yancy, but did they ever state his mother's name? I can't find any reference to it if it was... Surprises me if they didn't; they seem to name everybody else, even if their names never come up.

I wish we knew Fry's mother's name.  My guess is with her personality it was probably both a boy's or girl's name.  If I had to guess it's probably Andi or Billie.

I was afraid that was the case; I guess she'll just have to stay "Fry's Mom" or "Mrs. Yancy Fry" for now, maybe the movies will reveal.

This lack of information has been driving me nuts, too.  Even her Character Artwork slide on the Season 3 DVDs just refers to her as "Mrs. Fry."    :hmpf:

I vaguely remember this question being addressed before, because I recall various people throwing name suggestions about, but I think that was for someone's fanficton.  Also, there's this board, which kind of addresses the same question.

I think that she could be named after her mother, and there could be a relative name pattern of something. I haven't thought about it before though

Don't be silly, we have four movies coming up! And we can always write MG&DXC and ask that they bestow a name upon the poor woman.

It's kind of dissappointing, actually - Leela's mother's name was never used on the air, and Fry's mother remains nameless.  Well, at least they HAVE mothers who are alive (okay, Fry's isn't, but only because he was frozen) and have personalities.  Not like Disney's absent/dead/disembodied mother syndrome...

I don't fry being frozen killed her, so much as the subsequent 1,000 years.  ;) "Time makes fools of us all"

WTF, I know I did snips around that quote and typed a response last night.. recreating as best I remember it now.

::BLINKS::

You're right.  It never was.  So how do I have the idea that Leela's parents names are Turanga Morris and Turanga Munda...

Is Munda canon or the results of a fan fic that I read?

I'm pretty sure it's from the scripts, might be said in the commentary too?

I vaguely remember someone winning a draft of Leela's Homeworld and posting pictures of several pages for us, one or two which contained Munda's name.  I remember this because said pictures are sitting somewhere on this cluttered hard drive of mine....

I seem to recall "Taranga Morris & Munda" on the note Leela sent them in "Less than Hero."

Yes, that's how we know both her name, and the fact that "Turanga" is Leela's family name (rather than her personal name, as many early fanfics assumed).

But if you go by canon set by the creators it's spelled Turanga.

No ep, it was part of an easter egg on Disc 1 of Season 2 (in the "I second That Emotion" submenu to be exact).

Ofcourse if you want "on-the-air" confirmation, this is from "Leela's Homeworld":

I remembered the note (that you can see a part of in the corner of Teral's 'grab), I completely forgot the name-tag.
My memory is like a sieve...
