Cubert is one of my favorite characters on Futurama. His lines "No, that's what being a magical elf is all about." and "I want to be a science-fiction cartoon writer" were classic IMHO. He reminds quite a bit of Comic Book Guy.

I think he reminds me somewhat or a much smarter Bart Simpson.

I still thinks his remarks to Leela in "A Clone of my Own" was totally uncalled for. And Javier Lopez post now confirms that. Besides I didn't hear him complain about depth perception when see piloted them out of the Near Death Star.

So in short: I don't like him. He's the Wesley Crusher of Futurama.

I bet you hate URL and Smitty 'cause they also insulted Leela.

Cubert's fine. Yeah, he's a child, which will forever count against him, but he is the source of much merriment, whether because of him or in spite of him. And he has several quite amusing lines, too.

"Well, if it isn't stretch pants, no pants and... idiot."  :D

Cubert: hey Leela, put on these flame decals I got in my cerial.  they'll make the ship go faster
Leela: and whats your scientific basis for thinking that?
Cubert: I'm twelve

Funny idea   :laff: ... also true in a lot ways. I could imagine that Cubert really was meant to be a parody of a "obsessive sci fi geek". A good example is the story about him visiting a science fiction convention (as seen in one of the comics).

I don't really hate Cubert, at least he's still a kid.
He may be a genius' clone, but ...
Remember when he thought a cool sign would make the PE ship faster and answered to the question how that should work "Hey! I'm 12!"?

If there are characters I definitly hate more than Cubert, then here should be mentioned the Zapper.
Cubert may be annoying, ... but not in the same way as Zapp is.

I think Cubert's the sort of character that you love to hate! His lines are very funny, but who doesn't find a "know it all" act annoying!

He can be annoying sometimes... ok, A LOT of times, but for some reason I think he is kind of cool. Maybe because he is (in a way) related to Fry, who I consider the funniest character on the show.

man this is a funny thread, reading the first page, then the second, hehehehe.

anyway, i'm going to agree with many people on the second page, cubert is the character that was made to be hated, and people love to hate him. i don't think the show would be the same without him, i mean who would you hate? he is there for a purpose, and people need to acknowledge that. he's one of those things that you don't like untill their gone.

In a way I'm glad he's there to be hated, otherwie everyone'd focus their hate on adorable li'l Conrad.
But there's something oddly appealing about the little boy in shorts with all the swagger and self-love as a grown man. Hmm, I wonder if they've used that archetype elsewhere...

By the way, there's a System of a Down song called "Cubert".. The lyrics reference canned humans and organs. Definitely coincidental, but still a great song.

He's the rambunctious fat kid with a big mouth everyone wants to beat up.

It's hilarious when Cubert frustrates the crew and they can't really retaliate because he's too smart. Of course when he does get it, it's all the sweeter. I laughed really hard when he wanged his head on the steel door in 'Clone'. Also getting skewered in AOI1 right after he says, "That's preposterous!...".

Cubert is alright in my book.

How can anyone hate a character who said "No, that's what being a magical elf is all about." and "I don't want to be an inventor. I want to be something useful like a teacher's aide or a prison guard or a science fiction cartoon writer."?

I'm glad that there a quite a few people here who like Cubert or at least tolerate him.

Cubert kicks ass because he pisses everyone off. I want to make him my best friend and terrorize the village by scaring the shit old out old people and children, then using my ultra cannibal powers to eat middle aged people. I mean, seriously, how can you not like lines like "Well, if it isn't stretch pants, no pants, and...idiot." He rocks.

I don't think I could take having him as a friend, but I would stand next to him at parties so I would seem less offensive by comparison and people would hate me less without me having to not be an asshole to them.

See, that wouldn't work for me. I would be far more offensive than Cubert and feed off their hatred.

Eh. Another Cubert moment I appreciate from TROAE is the series of monosyllabic half-assed greetings. I love when such a friendly format for a show can give us such bitterness.

If it's so obvious everyone hates him, then why did I make a post about four posts above yours saying what a great character he is? Come on people.

Another Cubert moment(or Dwight may have said this, I only saw the episode once):

"And we can't drink or smoke because it will just make us throw up"

Hooray for kids who hate drinking and smoking!

Right before Cubert got introduced on the show, I had a long conversation with someone on the feasibility of calling your kid Q*Bert.  Cause I think that would be a great idea.  We never thought of altering the spelling, but Cubert is a cool alternative.
