I prefer when Mom is a more subtle villain in the storylines. Like "Attack of the Killer App" as opposed to "A Fishful of Dollars". As for villains in sitcoms, a villain like The Robot Devil in "The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings" - he acted as an actual villain, but it worked due to the dramatic nature of the episode's structure. Mom is a little too chaotic and set on world domination for her villainy to actually result in her goals being met. Except in Bender's Game(?) where she is the major villain.

Mom's many things, but subtle is not one of them.   I think she's equally as evil and antagonistic in AotkA as she is in AFOD.  But even so AFOD is her introductory episode, so she would have a reason to be over the top.  AtoKA doesn't have to set her personality up like AFoD does.

As i'm new i just wondered what you guys all thought of Mom, i get the feeling that theres some feelings of strong hatred for her

Seriously? I don't think any reasonable viewers actually hate Mom and hope for her downfall like you would with a classic villain. Mom is purely funny-evil. Anyone getting emotionally worked up over her diabolical plans is taking things a bit too serious.

Except Fishful was a much better episode than AotKA. Mom's subtlety didn't have anything to do with that, though.

No one hates Mom. Everyone loves their Mommy!

I think she's funniest when over-the-top and obsessive.

For sure. Plus it's fun to root for the bad guy/old woman now and then. I love it when she yells, it sounds painful for Tress to do that the way she does.

Oh Goldy, I loved her much more in Fishful. I think I liked her even MORE in Overclockwise. I also really liked Mother's Day.
I think I like Mom most when she's being ridiculously evil, or when we're forced to think about her gross, wrinkly sex life.

After "Prisoner of Benda", this can no longer shock anyone... :p

She's probably got the money to have several sessions of vaginal rejuvanation every so often.

That's so wrong on so many levels. :p
With a nickname like "Dustcakes", I suppose some rejuvenation is necessary. I wonder if it would require stem cells, like the Professor in 300 Big Boys.

Knowing her, she drinks stem cells every morning from perfectly healthy adults harvested for their stem cells.

Just like Sarah Palin!

Exactly, except with fewer children and a higher IQ.

Hm..I am not so sure of that...
Mom sometimes often seems rather ruthless than extremely intelligent (sure she is intelligent, but imhO rather on a "the normal above average scale".

Sarah Palin on the other hand is by far not as dumb as she acts (e.g -if I remember correctly- she once let accidently slip what she REALLY thinks of creationists, and considering it on offense to be asked wether she REALLY helieves such a nonsense about caveman and dinosaurs living at the same time).

Both persons playing a role in public that turns out to be the most profitable one for them...;)

It's possible... but then there are slips of the tongue like the North Korea thing, and there's the "I READ ALL THE NEWS" interview.  She might not be as dumb as she acts, and she appears to have a sort of animal cunning about her, but I really am not sure sometimes.

As for Mom, I would say she's very intelligent, considering her business smarts.  Running a company that massive has got to take some real brainpower.  She certainly knows how to play people, but considering just about everyone in the universe is a total idiot, that's not saying much.  The entire Earth population still seems to believe her paper thin persona as a sweet kind old granny.

Yes.  Just like they did with Steve Jobs, eh?

Very true, Tachy. He was kind of a dick, but no one is ever really going to remember that.

It's possible that Palin is smarter than she appears, but I am not really going to believe it unless someone produces some especially powerful evidence to contradict what everyone has already seen.

I've always thought of Mom as rather intelligent. She, she has to be defeated every once in a while, because she's the villain and all. But she's definitely not stupid and she knows what she's doing. She seems to run all of her publicity stuff herself. Mom doesn't need any teleprompters, no sir.

I feel like it depends what we mean by "intelligence". Mom doesn't strike me as especially book-smart (she seems average in this area), but she's definitely quite cunning. She knows how to ruin her competitors and how to maintain her public image.

Don't be silly. Puppies contain too little fat content by volume and are far too rich in hygroscopic compounds. She'll be wanting to grind up animals with a higher fat content, longer maturation cycle, and less capacity for the retention of sodium compounds.

This makes baby seals the perfect candidate for Mom's Old-Fashoned Vaginal Rejuvanation Cream.
