My last thread about Kif and Amy stopped somewhere at the point that fans wouldn´t much like it to see it in potentional future episodes. So, now to those two brats, Dwight and Cubert. Do you  think it would be interesting to see them growing up and have more interests? Or "tell them I hate them"?

I'm not a big fan of them.  I'm sure they would have kept appearing if the series had continued, but I don't think they would have been the focus of that many more episodes.  I guess they would have had to have grown older eventually, though.  They can't stay twelve forever.  It's not like they're Simpsons characters, after all.

I think Dwight and Cubert are okay.  If the series had continued they will probably be in give ot take 2 or 3 episodes in one season.  And you're right, maybe they would age.  However, most of the time they're in boarding school.

Dwight is pretty cool simply because he doesn't even know when he is smoking weed, but Cubert really needs to die. His voice just makes me want to punch him in the face.....or anyone else who happens to be around.

Meh, I don't know. I don't like the characters, but I tend to like episodes starring one or both of them. Sort of a reverse of how I feel about my sexy, bad episode center Calculon. So, in so many words, keep 'em.

When I read the title of this thread, I thought it ment something totally different...

Dwight is alright, but Cubert, don't even get me started.

I actually like them quite a bit. They're no brattier than Bart Simpson. They deserve at least one episode per season revolving around them.

Matt Groening once said that had the show continued they would have gotten gay.

I really doubt Cubert and Dwight would be gay.  Why does every tv show need to make characters do gay things?  It's really lame and unfunny now. Just let them be kids.

On topic, they weren't bad, but then again, we only saw them together in two episodes.  As far as minor walk-on characters, they're fine.  The episodes based solely around them weren't that good, probably because we already have two child-like characters on the show (Fry and Bender).

And Cubert wasn't that annoying. He was only in like 3 episodes, people!

But it's all a moot point, anyway.

@evan: I agree that the "people acting gay" thing needs to stop.  It's gotten stale and unfunny, even irritating.

I do think that Dwight and Cubert work very well as walk-on characters, and I also think the series would have been well off without them.  Futurama didn't need kids in it to appeal to a younger audience, and I don't think adults want to see kids running around a show with a formerly-all-adult cast.

Just because they're 12 and hang out a lot doesn't mean they're gay... They're kids, after all.

That's this huge problem with sitcoms today.  And two male characters hang out together, and everyone automatically assumes that they're gay.  It dilutes the actual funny "is-he-or-isn't-he?" moments, like with Zapp and the transsexual prostitute.

They could have one episode where the team travels into the future and bump into the adults of Dwight and Cubert.

Or they could use some of the idea from the movie 'big' where Cubert and Dwight become big like Tom Hank.
