Most overrated character?

I agree. The first few Bender episodes were pretty good,but later on they do start to get alittle boring,you know the same jokes and stuff.But that doesn't mean Bender isn't one of my favorite characters.

Bender's best episode was probably Godfellas, and his segment in AOI2. But other than that, yeah, he's a awesome character, but he's best left to covert stealing. Yes indeed. Granted, Fry and Leela aren't laugh-out-loud hilarious by their respective selves either (not that they're not funny, oh no...). I just think the three are best when they work off each other.

But Bender gets my vote. He sometimes gets too much focus.

My vote goes to Bender.  Granted, I love the guy to death, but I think his fans make too big a deal out of him.  It's not his screen time or attitude that overrates him, it's what the fans make of that.  And for the record, I love Bender-centric eps, even the later ones.

But I was for him before I was against him!

I too love Bender but gotta agree with Zoidberg227...when fans become obsessed and infatuated with him, it kinda kills it.....kind of like how fans killed Homestar Runner for me...

Scruffy is the only character I don't care for. They always love him in the commentaries, I just dont think he's funny.
And Hermes could of been a lot funnier. I wish he was more of a true rastifarian.

I'm going to agree with you there about Hermes. Throughout the run of the show, most of the characters were able to break away from the stereotypes that defined their personalities at first. Not Hermes. Or even Bender for that matter.

Wow I'm surprised that 15 people, including myself think BENDER is overrated.  He's the most recognizable character from the show.  He's the Mickey Mouse and the Pikachu of Futurama.  (neither of those characters were intended to be star characters)

I don't understand how some of you can go wacko over her. Yeah, right, the one eye makes her an interesting outsider and whatnot. Occasionaly she can be sexy (If I ever felt attracted to her, it was runied by her Whitney Houston impression).
Now don't get me wrong, I like her a lot - especially how she interacts with the others, she brings some interesting dynamics to the group. If you look at her alone, I find her quite boring.

How could ANYone ever vote von Zapp Brannigan?? Now _he_ is a sexy character, if anyone developed a fetish for him, I'd never call it overrated.

Recapitulation: Leela's a cool character, but the way many people worship her is plainly crazy.

characters overrated by writers or fans, by the writers id say Bender, he has new episode homer syndrome where he gets 99% of the best lines.

Overrated by fans? i think, Amy, her screen time isnt much more than Hermes, yet she has a huge following

Bender is overrated, he had too many episodes centred on him, with the exception of Godfellas they weren't as good as most other episodes.

I'm sure the show would still be on the air if it had episodes centred on Zapp Brannigan instead, he was underrated.

It's weird Amy gets so many votes, I didn't think she was that reknowned outside of that entirely Amy website... That said, it is interesting that she's an Asian female pratfaller, and she doesn't really match any particular stereotypes other than the blonde AZN raver one but...

Um, anyways, I've never been too great a fan of Scruffy. While he was funny the first time where he sort of came out of nowhere, once you know who he is (and once the other characters learned too) then he just got a bit old.  Plus all the writers seem to love using him...

And that said, shouldn't that be Randy instead of Farnsworth? The Professor generally gets no respect and even Wernstrom gets more regularly praised...

Leela's on more merchandise than Zoidberg. Plus Zoidberg is funnier than Leela and Amy.

Everyone seems to love Zoidberg, but not me.  I dunno, he usually just comes off either as predictable, and when he's completely unpredictable, I usually don't find him that funny.
