Here's the player list according to Leela's score card:-

Visitors(Martian Greenskins):-
KARIS
ADLER
HORSTED
VERRONE
KEELER
BURNS
COHEN
KAPLAN
MORTON

NNY Yankees:-
COSTANZA
MARIS*
ZORK
ZORK,JR
GZDJLYD
LOMBARD
GORE
RASPBERRY
JONES WITH CLEMEN'S ARM

Case 1:
Bender catches a Chinese Blernsman and gives him to a kid. The same guy appears in the beginning of Mother's Day during the Morbo/Linda newscast, having reportedly injured his knee. He is identified as William Woo, this name is not on the player list.

Case 2:
Leela mentions a 'Miller' about to pace 70 Blerns, again this name is not on the list. The Blern was scored by GZDJLYD, btw. Maybe some wierd rule that a player's score goes to some other team mate not on the field.

sorry if this was mentioned before...

Another thing to note, it was a Greenskin riding the tarantula after the Blern was scored. The spider was wearing a Greenskin's cap. Some sort of ritualistic insult for the losing team perhaps. Though the rider looked like he was smiling...

Did you personally notice these things? I had never thought of them. And I don't think we should get into the rules of the tarantula... or the rules at all.

William Woo is a friend of Lew Morton, the writer for Mother's Day (according to the commentary).  He may not have been signed for the team during the time elapsed between FOABP and MD.

Also, how do you know that GZDJLYD isn't pronounced 'Miller' in whatever language it is?

At the outset, this game was created to be like baseball, but cray. In that, yes, no intended rules.

Maybe anyone can be traded from a game while its playing.

Why the asterisk? Or was that how it appeared on the scorecard?

And it'd be cool if the MORTON on the Martian team referred to our own Sarge Morton (Morton's his last name, right? I think I saw him quoted once in some article), even though it probably refers to Lew Morton.

"Fear of a Bot Planet" is a season one episode.  I don't think that Sarge worked on season one.

Sarge only worked on (production) season 4, though many of the Futurama staff probably knew him from the Simpsons.

Maybe Woo and Miller are pinch hitters.

OK, wait.  I just watched the bit.  The guy on the spider is a relief pitcher.  I dunno why he leaves the bullpen on a spider, but presumably the starting pitcher got pulled when he allowed Qzdjlyd to hit that multi-ball blern.  Anyone else notice that Qzdjlyd looked like a pituitary giant?  Anyway, I assume Qzdjlyd is pronounced "Miller," because Leela is making a note on the "Qzdjlyd" line on the scorecard when she says "Miller's on a pace to hit 70 blerns."  By the way, this is a joke because this episode was produced the season Mark McGwire hit 70 home runs, and every day on the news during the season they showed his extrapolated season total based on his per-game pace.

As for my theory that Woo is a pinch hitter, that's a no go, because Bender catches him on the first inning, in fact immediately after the first shot of the scorecard, without his name on it.  I can only assume it's a different guy who happens to look a lot like Woo.

That was due to the brain and nerve tonic.  Just like Ken Griffey Jr.

I was just thinking that the pituitary giants have their own team.  Maybe he got traded.  But wtf is with this "Miller" thing?  Maybe Miller is his first name.  Miller Qzdjlyd.  Got a nice ring to it.  Or it could be his nickname.  Maybe he owns a mill.

Did anyone else notice how fast Jones pitched with Clemens' arm?  It took like a tenth of a second for the ball to get to the batter.  he must have been throwing twice as fast as even Clemens in the 21st century.  I wish we could have seen the splitter.

i'm frankly shocked that no one else answered this guy
it was written MARIS* because Roger Maris, in 1961 hit 61 home runs, but he did it in 162 games rather than the 154 game seasons that Babe Ruth had to play in.
The * is added because Maris had more opportunities to be at bat, so its not 100% fair to say he got more
