In the Day the earth stood stupid and nibbler was explaining the begining of the Universe.

At the end Leela says "So every religion is wrong"

Seeing as how most religions are about Altruism, does that mean that you should really be evil?

Well, just becuase some of the beliefs of a religion are wrong (eg. purpose of the universe) does not mean that the method or morals are wrong.

And 'every religion is wrong' only relates to how the Universe was made, saying that it wasn't made in any ways that religions say.

I thought it was referring to Fry being the savior of the Universe.

Col. Klink: He just said our thoughts about the real meing of existence is wrong. Not our philosophys or ways.

Alex: She asked "What's the meaing of existence" and got a whisper as an answer and then said "So every religon is wrong". It's not about how it was created.

Exactly. Nibbler was only saying that every religion has got the theory of the meaning of existance wrong, he wasn't saying that their ethics, practices or teachings were wrong. He wasn't even saying that their beliefs were wrong - just the ones regarding the meaning of existance, and hardly any religions claim to know that anyway.

Don't think too much into it anyway. The whole joke here is that since humans have been here - we've been struggling to find the meaning of life, and then Nibbler can explain it in a short one-syllable squeak. The religion line is just another small joke to add to it, that people may or may not find funny depending on their sensitivity regarding their beliefs.

What Beamer said, although there's the added element that we as the audience don't get to truly "hear" what the meaning of exsistance is, thus more hilarity.

The Bible does! The Bible (the way I see it anyway - I'm sorry if this offends anyone) basically implies that the entire purpose of life is to be good and believe in Jesus in order to get to heaven. That essentially is what it says, isn't it? That heaven is a desirable state of being and that your life should be dedicated into being "good" so that you should get there.

I'm not Christian, in case you didn't guess.

Most of them follow a similar principle (I don't know so much about this, so forgive me) - Islam, Hinduism and Judaism all indicate that you should strive to achieve perfection in order to enter some heaven-like realm.

To my knowledge, Buddhism preaches eternal reincarnation (but you still have to be good to move up the reincarnatory chain) and Paganism (points at self) also preaches reincarnation, but that what you are reincarnated as is arbitrary.

Feel free to correct me if I'm talking crap - RE was never my best subject.
