Am I the only one who has noticed that inflation ceased to exist? Or perhaps it peaked. Prices in 1900 to 2000 have changed astronomically, but from 2000 to 3000 nothing at all! Eg. gum costs 40 cents, etc.
Thoughts?

Maybe they decided to freeze the prices so it wouldn't go up even more.

Yes, and the dollar still remains. What's the currency in the other planets??

The price of gas dropped a lot though, you can see that when Leela is pumping gas in Parasites Lost.  A gallon must be about a nickle.

I've always wondered about inflation in the future. Once it gets to the point where a can of soda is like a billion dollars, everyone just has to stop and get ahold of themselves and say "this is ridiculous...let's just give ourselves huge pay cuts and lower everything back down to a penny". This probably happened in Futurama in the 2700's or so, giving prices plenty of time to inflate to the point of being comparable to our current prices.

Just think about the amount of money on Fry's account in Fishful of Dollars. So inflation probably takes place but in what kind of creepy way?

Maybe they had an economic crash and are recovering from it.  I stopped and thought about it once.

"Repeat to yourself 'It's just a show, I should really just relax!'" is meant to mean if it's a flaw, something forgotten, something you dislike then you shouldn't argue over small things and take it for the show that it is.  It does NOT mean take all your enthusiasm for the show and dump it down the torlet.  As I believe this forum was not intended for mistakes and slipups, but weird intended scenes in the show.
So don't ever backtalk that piece of lyric ever again.

You are welcome for this piece of knowledge I have just dropped upon you.

Well inflation is coped with very simply.
Simple bring out a new version of the dollar.
new bills & coins and replace the old valueless dollar.
The same thing was done with the german mark after WW1

Well I don't think they would've had inflation for a thousand years, cause the world was nearly demolished twice.  So when the cities were rebuilt they had to start with such low prices since there wasn't enough currency being made.

ahem "you should repeat to yourself it's just a show, I should really just re-lax!  On Mysteryyyy Science Theaterrrr three thousssanddd!"       *Bows and takes applause*

When Fry collected his huge payoff, notice the interest rate was the same the last thousand years. Besides, all that antiquated money must me tons worth more than its original. It's like Jay Leno said once: "Since there are traces of crack in most of the bills in LA, a single note theoretically has the street value of ten."

I heard Germany had printed enough notes in the war to have a total value of 4 QUADRILLION marks. Is this true? I read it in a history book.

I think it is - there was a time when you'd have to take a wheelbarrow full of notes (i.e, literally a million marks) to get a loaf of bread  :)

Simple, if you get rid of 50% of cirulation curreny all reminging is worth 2x as much.

All USD, is worth a certain amount of gold in fort knox.

Now in futurama gold may be much more abunadnt and it could be something else currecny represent or they may have made lass currecy to increase the value of the dollar. ie. get rid of all paper money but 5 100 dollar bills and suddelny they are worth tons. bucase the are each an = amout of the nation wealth, so less money overall individual dollars are worth more.
