In the scene where Dwane (the mutant w/ the big forehead) is telling the legend of "El Chupanibre" a large crowd of people gather around him. when the camera zooms out, you see leela's parents walk into the circle! they were not introduced until much later in Leelas Homeworld, and even then they had hoods on for most of the episode, too avoid being seen by leela. so why were they there now?

::Speechless::

Seriously, I just don't know how to respond to this.  This is worse than the time I was asked what the number on the ticket meant.

wait... are you speechless because of the mistake I found, or because of some mistake I made?

This is well known, mentioned (obliquely) in the commentary, and deliberate foreshadowing for future episodes.

If it's any consolation, I never even noticed Leela's parents were there until I got the dvd and heard the commentary....

Of course having not seen Leela's Homeworld yet doesn't help.... :p

Well, just the fact that a character hasn't been introduced properly with their names and all, doesn't mean they don't exist...
I mean, that would mean that the "niggaspray" (grafitti) in SP3K ("Venusians go home" ) is a huge error since we haven't seen the venusians yet.

And also, the revelation in ISTE in the commentary is quite obvious although they try so hard to cover it up...

Well, it's in a crowd. Maybe they hadn't seen Leela was there, so they didn't 'hood up' and since Leela didn't know them she wouldn't recognise them anyway...

That makes sense, didn't they disappear by the next shot anyways, presumably when they caught sight of Leela?  I have a question about this, though. Did anybody catch it before Leela's Homeworld was aired?  I wasn't a fan back then, so... yeah.

Yep, people (and PEEL'ers) spotted it well before LH, way back in early 2001.

Proof!

I'm sure some even older thread mentioned it too, but it was lost in one of the crashes PEEL have experienced over the years.

It's amazing how on-the-money VF turned out to be about the whole thing.

And how wrong Teral turned out to be because he was in denial.  :evillaugh:

I actually came to PEEL at first about a year ago to point this out... But I'd been beaten... by a long way, in fact it would have been my first thread, and i would have registered in Feb. 2003.... Ah well, no-one cares   :)
But i saw the episode for the first time in about Dec 2002-Jan 2003
So it wasn't my fault dammit!

Are they still possible to make? probably not... And Nixorbo's past self is a little less catchy than his present one. Too bad those people from the past didn't have the DVDs.

I noticed Leela's parents standing there a long time ago but I never realized that was them until I saw Leela's Homeworld.

Did anyone notice Leela's parents in "I second that emotion"? Fan-tastic!

Something that baffles me when I read the old thread is that people use "they don't have purple hair" as an argument to prove that they are not Leela's parents. Munda clearly does have ourple hair, only a tone or two more grey-ish. So the argument is based on some kind of color blindness. And nobody corrected it- I am confused.
