It's a good thing I found this post, because I was going to repeat it.  I've always assumed that the Fountain of Aging reset everyone back to their "original" ages.  Therefore, Fry would be back at 25, Amy at 21, etc.  Fry just doesn't seem mature enough to be almost 30.  IMO, he's still just a big kid.

The crew have been also shooting around the universe at 99% light speed, which would mean that physically, their ages would change very little.

Kind of fits for Fry I guess    :)

Just out of curiousity, I checked a site that has "Perpetual Calendars" (thank you very much to the folks at http://www.vpcalendar.net)  ... wondering if that date (7/13/75 -- hmmm... summer vacation between my junior and senior years in high school) happened to have occured on a Friday.

No. Sunday.

I remember, it was on CGEF, I think. But he was born in 1974, so 1999 minus 1974=25 years old, BUT it's 3004, right? So, he's at least 29, but maybe a couple of years younger due to the Fountain of Aging, so he's between the ages of 25 and 27 at the most, right?

The Fountain of Aging might have increased or decreased their biological age from what it was originaly, but they'd still be the same age, legaly and mentaly.

And if Leela looks a lot older then 28, it could have a lot to do with the chronic stress of letting her lack of parents get to her. In the 3-4 years since she joined PE, I'm suprised she doesn't look much older just from having to deal with Fry.

Typicly, the least-stressed people apear to age the slowest. That's one reason why Fry, with his idiocy-induced apathy, might look a bit younger when compared to Leela, even if they're the same age.

Not necessarily. The PE crew acted more childish after the youthosizing. Hermes and Bender were having spit ball fights, Amy beat up on Hermes, and Hermes called Farnsworth "Mr. Dumbsworth".

I seriously doubt the animators took into account the fact that Fry's idiocy may reduce his stress factor, causing him to appear younger than others his age when they first drew the sketches for Fry and Leela.

At first the relationship of Fry and Leela, was funny.  They seemed to like each, but there were times in the first few episodes where Leela seemed like an older sister to Fry, since she was more serious.  Fry even said Leela treated him like a little baby in My Three Suns.  Either it was due to Fry's immaturity, or Leela acting way too mature. It just made any potential future love relationship between Fry and Leela seem odd at first.

However, by the end of season one, their relationship on developing a future love interest was much better with "A Flight To Remember".

Of course. None the less, Leela does seem to look older then Fry IMHO, and that is a possible explanation for it. Isn't conceiving such explanations for things the animators and writers probably never thought about what this board is all about?

As for the issue of their behavior: I'd call placebo effect. If you give someone a non-alchohalic tonic to drink, but convince them it's alchohal, they'll act just as drunk, because they expect to. They don't conciously decide to act mroe drunk; their brain handles that for them. Same thing here. Not only that, but their condition is an EXCUSE to act immature, and if they didn't make the change subconciously, they might have willingly upon realizing this. Or maybe this realization only further prompted a subconcious reaction.

Not to mention that Farnsworth was no longer eligible for social security payments, which means it must have decreased his legal age as well.

True, but remember...the prof-meister is older (God-only-knows how much) than before, so it couldn't have decreased his age...right?
