I thought this until...from the DVD commentaries:

"Is that a G-string she's wearing?"
[Various wows from the crew]
[Something along the lines of "that's hot"]

In other words the skin coloured stuff is skin!

I think all the wows came from that ladies man John DiMaggio. He's also the one who goes "Speaking of asses, check out Leela's! Wow!" in The Birdbot Of Ice-catraz commentary.
