Can anybody explain the "wizard" concept to me. I'm a non-US resident, and it just seems that "wizards did it" is used for ANYTHING that is just mildly hard to grasp. Like this: Q- "Where is my left shoe?" A- "The wizards made it vanish"...
Is this usage correct? If it is... then I hate it... And please stop it.
Wizards- the other white meat... Hmmmm

"A wizard did it" is a line from "The Simpsons" 1999 Halloween Special, "Treehouse of Horror X". Guest star Lucy Lawless uses the excuse to explain to Professor Frink a blooper he noticed on "Xena".

Simple. It's not a junkyard, it's a recyling plant whith a bit of a backlog  :)

OK then. I haven't had the opportunity towatch a lot of Simpsons (unfortunately- I'm from Denmark- A country with VERY few channels unless you've got some big bucks)

TV3/TV3+ air Simpsons every day. A double header between 7 and 8 PM on weekdays, plus Saturday afternoon. But as you say, you have to pay them big bucks.  ;)

As for the original question: I like 6X9's explanation. Alternatively you could say that Fry was really succesfull in ABPOG, and as a result the recycling systems collapsed, and people just started throwing junk away. Afterall Leela is worried about Fry producing garbage in "The Birdbot Of Ice-catraz".

Cool, I didn't know that.  Quoxote is on my read before I die list.  I have it in my library, just haven't gotten around to it.

"Script Logic" is probably a more accurate term for "A wizard did it."  It is something that was probably thrown in because an episode/joke needed it, it just produces an inconsistancy in the greater scheme of things.  Fry not knowing about Freedom Day until 2003 would be a good example.

Plus, don't forget the Futurama connection.  You can always blame the dark wizards.

"Sure, blame the wizards"
                        -Dark wizard.
i think its a good excuse... There are proof that wizards exist in 3000 or so... In episode Crimes Of The Hot.

Pikka Bird --> You are from Denmark, me to.

Teral --> Are you also from Denmark?? If not, then how did you find out about the channels? The channels websites are in danish.

Yes, Teral is from Denmark. If you click the profile button (in the same row as 'edit'), you can see where people are from. I also like SixByNine's explanation. And one more thing- does anyone think the dark wizard joke may have been some reference to PEEL, or just something they threw in?
