I did wonder about the five finger thing-a-ma-jig.  Obviously intentional and probably already discussed.  But, anything?  Anyone?

who said that records in the future are limited to audio only?  Even if they were old fashioned grooved records (not all that odd when one considers the number of audio-fools who insist on using 60 year old tube equiptment today) it *could* be possible to encode visual information on it.

In fact, I think the Voyager (space probe) record has both audio and video on it.

About Leela's dress:

In 'Bend Her' Hermes got a flabodynamic spandex bodysuit from the Professor wich shapes his body a little bit differently, there could be dresses that do that to women, so that's why leela's shapes are bigger, better, well you know what I mean.

Did anyone notice that during the opera, the professor seems to where those fancy opera glasses, or something? But when we see Zoidberg shouting, he's clearly just holding something up to his regular glasses.

I dunno who still writes in this Forum, since its now March 20, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me the name of the concerto that fry is playing when the two dancers are spinning the snail's eyeballs around...they are spanish "flamenco" looking dancers, so I don't know if there is some sort of indication as to the origon of that music, but I would really like to know!...thanks. hehe, btw good episode, I've a futurama fetish now, only I download the endless 230 MB episodes on to my stockpiling hard drive and I barely wathc TV anymore. What can I say, To agreewithzoid makes me highly addicted to futurama   :)

How come the holophonor can be played with either human four-fingered hands or robot three-fingered hands?

My great uncle plays a pretty mean accordian with a finger missing... it just takes some adjustment. Plus what the moron said.

It was a while back in the thread, but someone mentioned the actors in the opera being in their underwear. It seems that on the scale of the opera, the holophoner clothes and gives song to the actors, who are merely there for blocking purposes. You could need real actors for an opera because it is more story based than just playing a song. This is why when Fry plays poorly, the actors are shabbily clothed and cannot act. Odd, but that's how it seems to me.

The whole idea is my biggest Matt Groening pet peeve. YOU CAN'T PLAY A WOODWIND WITHOUT FIVE FINGERS ON EACH HAND! Forget the Robot Devil, he has magic, but Fry shouldn't be able to play that thing well...
It's even worse with Lisa Simpson...Bari Sax with seven fingers irritates me beyond beliefe (you need nine, NINE!). I play the freakin' instrument, and you need those pinkies a hell of a lot..

You could if the woodwind (and entire universe) was designed for people with four fingers...

Aside from that, I asked my brother (he plays the barry and alto saxes, as well as flute) and he figures that he could manage to play the sax with a missing finger with the exception of one note in the octave. Or, all notes if he could use his forearm to hold down keys... which made me laugh.  Anyway, its interesting if true.  If not true... I'll beat him up. So what if he is in better shape than me and knows karate. I'm taller and older than he is, and I weigh more!

It's kinda true...you don't need a register key for sax or flute if you're good enough (I'm a clarinet doubler, though, and I need that key to feel pacified), but the idea of a universe with an 8-fingered sax player confuses and infuriates me.

Fry couldn't play the holophoner after he got rid of the worms in 'Parasites Lost', yet in IDAR he gets his hands eaten by the T-Rex.

Therefore does that mean his new pair of hands also have stupid fingers?

it wouldn't really be his fingers that were stupid, it would be the signals his brain send to them.

But who knows, maybe in the Future tiny brains might evolve into the fingertips, making them either  smart or stupid.

Or Not....

I think the whole "stupid fingers" joke was basically saying that he had clumsy fingers and he couldn't coordinate them properly.

Yeah, that was a good episode. I just wonder, it's kinda obvious that Leela finally understood how much Fry loves her. But how did their relasionship follow up? Are they dating, married, engaged, or at the force of hatred? What happened to them!?

If Futurama does make a comback, what do you think the writers will do with that ending? I thought that is was a nice way to tie off the series, because we could all make up our own minds, but the writers might have a problem continuing the Fry/Leela plotline whilst still making it entertaining.

Simple. Because the ep doesn't really tie up the plot line. It's a sweet ending, but wouldn't the endings to 'The Why of Fry,' 'The Sting,' or 'The Farnsworth Parabox' seem more like an affirmation that Fry and Leela might actually get together then the end of 'Devil's Hands'? It could just be Leela being nice to Fry. She does that sometimes.

It might be interesting though, IF the show gets picked up, to learn that Fry and Leela did go out between seasons, but Fry screwed it up in some spectacular and never entirely explain fashion... could potentially make a good running joke.

It is a simple truth in television that when Guy gets Girl of His Dreams, there is nowhere to go but down. If Futurama were to come back by some miracle, they'd have to be just friends still. If they were dating, the show would immediately be re-cancelled, because it'd be lame.

The brilliance of this ending is that they left it open both ways. They didn't know what the plans were after this one. This one left us with a little bit of closure, a little bit of hope for the future, and a little bit of a To Be Continued vibe.

I don't know about that, the show can still be good as long as it doesn't focus on the relationship as much as on the humor.

i have said this dozens of times and i still stand by it. having them date would not ruin anything. I'm not going to repeat my argument, if you want my reasoning search the human resource thread for the various Leela/Fry shippy threads.

Also, this has probably been mentioned before, but shouldn't the Robot Devil be interested in trying to re-capture Bender since he escaped Robot Hell in "Hell Is Other Robots?" Has he forgotten? Statute of Limitations expired? I demand answers.

It would be interesting for them to continue the story. There were so many plot twists in the last episode.

Personally I want to know what happens with Leela and her deafness.

Also I want to know what happens with Fry's holophonor skills and all that stuff.

Well Fry had the skills, but his 'stupid fingers' weren't fast enough to coperate. I would like to know what happened to them. I was the one who started this converstation. But it wouldn't be terrible if they did show Fry & Leela in love. They would have their falls and stuff but it could all be funny. Plus there's always Bender! But I think the last episode was a good one to end the show. It leaves you with wonder, is Leela still death? Is she and Fry dating? Does Bender ever get his shiney metal ass back? (No one has mentioned that yet!) I liked that episode. Plus if Leela was being 'nice' to Fry at the end, wouldn't she have smiled and left? Instead of saying I want to hear the end. Actually, I think the whole episode began to show that Leela liked Fry more than she thought. But I think, once you are put in the grave wether you be human or a canceled T.V. show, you can't walk from the dead.

He could write music, it takes more than good hands to do that...he has some skill, even IF his opera sounded like bad G &S
