Is someone obsessed with Donkey Kong?

Well there are several references to him (or other similar gorillas) within Futurama and indeed the Simpsons.  There's a donkey kong like character in SP3K when Fry is playing the game "and then a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you".  Donkey Kong is also in AOI2 on the videogame story.  Plus there's a gorilla toy that looks a lot like him in A Tale of Two Santas.  Leela"These gorillas are ok", Elves"Yay we're adequate"...  I know I've seen Donkey Kong used to advertise some tire thingy on the Simpsons "Sorry donkey kong, you're just not working anymore" :throws barrel at guy: "Wow, he's still got it!"....  Well I just thought maybe someone else thought it was odd...

Hey In AOI 2 Donkey Kong was on the planet at the start right? So why did he get out of the spaceship with Lrrr and the other games characters?

To rejoin his invasion fleet, of course. He was being pursued by his arch-nemesis, Mario. 

Donkey Kong's cool. Plus he's a very recogniseable character for Futurama's demographic.
