Dark Matter??

Does anyone Quite understand the concept of dark matter???........ i see how the molecules could be highly compact, yet i still dont see how It could be so heavy......... and i also dont see how Nibbler "creates" the dark matter.....

If dark matter is super-dense, then it could have the same mass as a much larger object.  One explanation for dark matter is that it's actually neutron stars, stars that might have the same mass as our sun but have the size of a city.

That's just one possible explanation for what dark matter is.  No one is quite sure because only its effects can be seen, not the matter itself.

Since Nibbler eats so much and his poop is relatively small, he must somehow compress it, making it super-dense.  Of course, he still weighs the same no matter how much he's eaten.  Somehow he keeps himself light while there's hundereds of pounds of food inside of him.

In the commentary for season 1, they explain that they decided to make dark matter the fuel for starships because it's real but no one knows much about it.  Therefore they could assign any properties to it they wanted and it wouldn't be inaccurate.

Matter is mostly empty space filled with tiny, very dense "things" (protons, neutrons, electrons, etc.)  The important thing to remember is that repellent forces are keeping these subatomic particles away from each other (on a tiny, but relatively huge scale).  If you can exert enough force to overcome the repellent forces, you can bring the particles close enough together that they end up bonding (due to other forces).  You eliminate all the empty space and have nothing but concentrated particles - very heavy and very small.

As for how Nibbler craps the stuff, I'm guessing wizzards.

The funny thing is, the gravity aspect of super-heavy dark matter is completely ignored. Something that dense and heavy should exact some measurable gravity. Particular on Vergon 6, yet all the animals act as if they've evolved on a planet with standard gravity.

It violates one of laws of thermodynamics (don't ask my which one) as well. As matter is pressed together, it's temperature should rise accordingly. So yes, Nibbler could compact his poop, it would just be a very heavy (as seen) and extremely hot piece of poop.

"Nitpickers Guide to Futurama"?

Before anyone start talking about being overly critical. The idea of Nitpicking, as I understand it, is not to pick the show apart, but to have fun with finding stuff like this.

Rule #1 for nitpickers: "All nitpickers shall perform their duties with lightheartedness and good cheer". The whole idea about nitpicking is having fun with ones favorite tv shows, not about pointing fingers, assigning blame or feeling smug.

Ofcourse dissenters exist in all groupings.

Anyway, regarding the creaton of dark matter - a reminder that Nibbler can eat several elephant-sized creatures in one sitting.  What do you think happens to all that waste?

The more interesting question is:
Where does he store them before turning them into Dark Matter, or are they turned instandly into Dark Matter, and wouldn't that mean that Dark Matter actually consists of dead animals?

well, i think that dark matter Must be made from dead animals, considering that all petroleum products were origional living creatures.

Also, i would assume that it takes alot to make dark matter, even though Nibbler must eat only about 40 Hams a day, and also, why would these future people be eating giant bugs (Buggalo) when there are Hams?...... must be a paradox.....

in the why of fry, fry said it waid as much as a 1000 suns. i dont know if that is exaggeration or not. a teaspoon of a nutron star weighs about 10 tons, so nibblers crap would be, by far the most dense matter. one piece of his crap would distort the space-time continum like a black hole, if not worse. but then again, its just a cartoon.(in case you were wondering, i read stephen hawking).
