Finglonger ?

If i recall correctly (and i do ) the professor said "So that's what things would be like if I'd invented the finglonger." In AoI 1. Now ... as we have seen in 3acv05 (Ice-catraz) he did invent it, so ... what did he mean by "things" in AoI ? the only thing that happened in the professors What-If simulation was him and the others standing around a What-If machine and posing questions ... Am I missing something ? there must be more to this conspiracy, im su uh oh, must run, they are after me

ah you are missing something.  I just explained this to my pal fishy joe, and now i will explain it to you. 

The finglonger was established as already having been invented in the "anthology" episode.  It was invented by someone other than the professor.  He wishes that he had invented it, but just because he didnt invent it doesnt mean that he can't own and enjoy one.  If it hadnt been invented then he couldnt of said "what if", since upon having the idea he could of invented it himself.  (whoa does that make sense?)
so either way they never said that he invented it.  he just owns one.  like i'm sure he goes out and  buys stuff from time to time and doesnt invent everything he has.

I'd still bet on my original explaination
because if the professor came up with the original idea of the finglonger in "AoI-1" then I would assume that He would of built one.  So i have to think that the finglonger was someone else's idea and that person invented it.  therefore the professor sees it and likes it- wishing he had invented it.  if he came up with the idea (which would be the case if he invented it later) i dont see why he didnt build it earlier since he acted like he really wished he had invented it ("a man can dream, a man can dream")

maybe, just maybe the proffesor invented it, forgot he invented it (ala A Big Pile of Garbage) then asked the What If Machine what would happen if he invented it, and it just showed him a version of his reality, and then he later remembered he already invented it, and used it for the display.

but I just think he bought one, just because he's a mad scientist doesn't mean he has to use only the inventions he makes

no we arent forgetting that.  because his "what if" was "what if i invented the finglonger" (or whatever).  so he couldnt of asked about it if he hadn't heard of it till watching it on the screen.

So what exactly is the purpose of the finglonger? I don't know if I would want my kids playing with one. Anyway I disagree with you all, there's no such thing as a finglonger it's only a state of mind. If you believe in it, then it exists, if you don't, there is no finglonger.
