I recently showed my friend the nibbler's shadow bit in episode one and then "The Day.." and he was completely unconvinced that they had anything to do with each other. Since "they would never wait till the 3rd season to use that as a plot device" and the whole course of the Simpsons they always use all their plot devices immediatly, and that shadow doesn't look like Nibbler. Is there any more ammo on this subject to use on my dimwitted friend to help convince him of the Nibbler Conspiracy?

Well, you could hit him over the head with the TV, but I have a feeling that would be counter-productive.

The Day the Earth Stood Stupid proves nothing, nibbler never actually said that he pushed Fry into the tube and that shadow might not be nibbler it could easily be something else even though it looks like nibbler.
Fry was an idiot for getting rid of the brains, he was the smartest person left on earth and could have ruled it.

It was amazing how Fry was so unbelieveably dumb, yet he was the smartest guy onEarth.

anyway, in The Day the earth stood stupid, Nibbler didn't actually push Fry in-Fry did, if that makes any sense at all.....

maybe The Day the Earth stood stupid doesn't prove anything, but the Why of Fry definitely does.

Well... I may bring light into your confusion regarding that thread here.

The last post before the big bump is dated "03-21-2001 06:44". According to CGEF the episode "The why of Fry" was aired on April 4th of 2003. This means that people back in 2001 didn't have a clue that a two years later upcoming episode will explain it.   ;)

Aslate and the Fryhole team did quite a nice job of that topic here

Well, the bump of the ancient threads is probably an inevitable side-effect of discouraging new threads, though it still amazes me how often ancient threads are resurrected for no apparent reason.

A new one of these springs up from a new person asking the exact same question....

Not blaming you Bender 3:16, but its very common so just use the search function in the future  :)

You could show him the commentary of the first episode, they admit the whole Nibbler thing.

I eventually turns out that way, yes.  But if you look at the trash bin in the first episode, you dont see anything.  Look at the same bin in the later flash back episodes, such as The Why of Fry, and you will see nibbler's 3rd eye peeking out of it.  Evidently, they didnt think of it till later in the series.  At least that's what i remember.

They're refering to the fact the Nibbler's shadow is actually seen on the wall as Fry falls into the cryogenic chamber in the very first episode. Go watch that scene again in slow motion, the shadow is clearly seen.

Last two posters: watch The Why of Fry again.

MtA: Nibbler came to Earth from his normal "assignment" on Vergon 6 to Earth to make sure Fry made it to the 31st Century.  He knocked Fry into the tube; this had always been the writers' plan, hence Nibbler's shadow appearing in the first episode.

thetor66: Fry went back in time, Nibbler didn't.  Watch the scene, they explain everything.

Too bad that their plan at the time didn't consist of anything beyond that.  If it had, "The Why of Fry" might have been a better episode.

Yeah, I know...it's so hard to watch an episode that could have been perfect fail miserably, only achieving a painful 98.9% of pure excellence.  I gnash my teeth in frustration every time I watch it....those 3 viewings last week caused a very expensive dental visit.

And now I feel the horrible compulsion to watch it AGAIN, allowing its 1.1% of sub-perfect material to torment me ruthlessly.  Oh, the pain that episode has caused me...over and over again....

I disagree, The Why OF Fry contained enough past explanation and piecing together to keep me happy why would it need any more its already intricut enough being that Nibbler pushed him in to save the Earth over 1000 years later, I think that that plot doesn't need anything else to be interesting.

Plus you're complaining about an episode which you say got 98.9%, 98.9%!!!! How is that bad lol. The Why of Fry is one of my favourite episodes as I love the piecing together of the whole inital plot line of the show (about Fry coming to the Future) and presents this piecing together in a interesting and good to watch episode hence the brains popping up again from an earlier episode, the scooty puff jr, the Nibblonians objective etc and also leads for a future episode to explain more hence Nibbler saying that Leela is the other????

So to summarise I completely disaree with what you just said and love the episode The Why Of Fry, hence my avatar which I am going to set as my avatar in future which I am loading to custom of the great scene within The Why Of Fry of Fry with the interface bomb!!!      :)       :)       :)
