Post freeze-frame stuff, questions, etc. in this post.

Any neat things occur in this episode?

Nibbler in the trashcan, as well as an added shadow of Fry (holding his ears?), when Fry was falling into the cryo-tube.  -- aslate has a good picture of this under the gen. discussion.

How did Seymour fossilize standing up?

I was going to post more about the Nibbler-in-the-past thing, but it's already been taken care of in the other thread....

The Robo-dog looks just like Sony's current model.

Fry says "Good news everybody," just like his descendent Farnsworth.

Why is Fry's native dance the hustle? He's clearly a retro-80s 90s kind of guy, not a retro-70s kind of guy (as all the new references to "Walkin' on Sunshine" remind us, noodle-sucking or not).

That righteous mineral Dolomite: "The tough black mineral that won't cop out when the heat is all about."

It's interesting that Fry's parents aren't as uncaring as we've been led to believe; it's just that they're as clueless as him (see the scene at the cryogenic facility).

Why didn't fashions change into the 21st century? It would have been great to see it start off realistic, and by 2013 everyone's wearing really silly faux-futuristic clothes. But otherwise, I loved the ending--and the rest of the episode.

I think the fact that they show Frys' 1st moment of freezing so many times in this shows' lifetime is its lasting intrigue.

It seem like Fry is more of general a pop-culture junkie than just a retro-80's guy.
Not too mention, there are no cool 80's or 90's dances. Not that the Hustle is cool, but it kind of is unique in it's own way, and there hasn't been anything else like it.
And all that crap was getting popular again in the late 90's so if you ask me, it's in the sludge that is Fry's brain, and is fair game.

Oh yeah - and it's a cartoon.

This is what i'm wondering about...

Now, what are those things round his neck, that's what confuses me.

That's why i think it's Fry, the prongs.

Those things "around" his neck are his hands, covering his ears apparently.  That or holding in neck bolts.  You can see his elbows when he moves.

Hmm, they're small for arms, and why would he cover his ears?

Also, they like repeating similar/same music as on Luck of the Fryish. Good for the sad scenes.

Not really that weird. But when RoboPuppy is kicked, the closed captioning say, "Shut up" when Bender really said nothing.

aslate: remember the shadow is just a shadow (no depth).  The hands are parallel to the face so that they appear thin and the arms are going to be overlapping.

He could be covering his ears to prevent hearing something (maybe he isn't supposed to hear something), or he doesn't want to hear himself fall into the cryo-tube

[EDIT]Now i've had a chance to see it frame by frame, it does seem pretty obvious to be fry, but those 'hand/arms' are still weird.

His hands could also be in a position in which he pushed the chair over

the shadows next to his neck are his hands, and his arms straight out, I think he is plugging his ears with his fingers...

I've been thinking, since that is Fry in the shadows in the past, why didn't he take Seymour back with him into the future?

Time-Space Continuum -> BOOM!

Don't you remember from Roswell That Ends Well?! I think Fry's changed the past enough as it is.

And maybe Fry is holding a camera?! Its just what it made me think of.

And how did Seymour get fossilized, anyways? It's not like he would have been left intact on the sidewalk for 1000 years.

some things i just noticed probably not new to some of you... fry's parents house is in the exact same shape in the year 3000 as in the year 2000 and fry's mom is a cheese head (wisconson fan) and it seems it was written into the show that wisconson won the rose bowl in 1999/2000 when stanford in fact won... the scores are reversed in this episode and frys mom mentions how wisconson won in Luck of the Fryish

I thought that it was the Mets who won in Luck of the Fryish. When was Wisconson mentioned?

I also liked how they all got sick from the baloney they ate on New Years day. Also, notice theres no snow in January?

When Yanzy dress up for his wedding, Fry's mother say "I'll never forget the day Phillip disappeared..Wsiconsin won the Rosebowl 17-9!"

But if Seymour is that important to Fry, why didin't he ask Michelle what happened to his odg?
Chump

Because Michelle didn't care about him! You can imagine that kind of question:
Fry: How was Seymour?
Michelle: You mean that dirty, rat-like, foul smelling thing you hang around with at work.
Fry: Yeah! How is he?
Michelle: Dead.

Michelle got frozen a mere two years after Fry, so Seymour would've still been alive.

Couldn't the same argument be brought up about his brother?  After all, we first learned of his existance in Luck of the Fryish.  Fry didn't even bring his dog up until after he found it petrified, either.

Michelle had dumped fry at the point when he got frozen, so she probably wouldn't have known or cared about his dog.

The difference is, at that point Fry couldn't care less about what had happened to his brother. Yanzy was just a big bully, that stole all Fry's original ideas, he just happened to be related.

Michelle regreted breaking up with Fry, that was the last time she was truely happy (because she could push him around at will, probably), so it's possible she would have some knowledge about Fry's beloved dog.

Still I'd would've been nice, but that's probably asking too much long-term planning from the creators. Something along the lines of Chump's joke would've been great though.

A neat little joke that I picked up on was when Fry uses Bender to break through that window. Payback from when Bender used Fry to break out that window escaping from mutants in Leela's Homeworld.

Did she walk in front of the store at the end when Seymour was sitting out front waiting for Fry?

I don't think so, but she did walk past in the background when Semour was sniffing Fry's photo in the 99c store.
