Okay, so Star Trek is banned, right? Then how the hell did Star Trek: The Pepsi Generation even get made, let alone get an Oscar nomination?

Perhaps Pepsi bribed some politicians to get an exemption for their product placement show.

I did seem in the episode only the oriinal series got banned. They did not mention getting rid of the hundres of episodes from the other series. Perhaps it was only really the first series that was any kind of threat.

That actually makes sense.

All Trek references (bar one) in WNFHGB was from TOS. Even the worlds biggest Star Trek fan (Melllvar) was only interested in the crew of the original Enterprise.

I've never really perceived Fry as being a Star Trek fan, either. He outnerded Melllvar!

Easy - it was made before ST was banned.

Why would the Academy wait several centuries before nominating a movie for an Oscar?

1 - Star Trek wasn't banned for a long long time, wasn't it 2300 or something?
2 - Remember, only the original series was banned and shipped off to Melvar's world.

I think those were mentioned, but now they're condensed for your convenience.

But the Vulcan in "That's Lobstertainment" is wearing a TOS style uniform.

Probably another series set in the same time as Kirk & Co. It's just a coincidence they both feature a Vulcan in a blue TOS uniform.

In one episode, I think that it was I Dated A Robot, the nurds argued about both Treks.

(Sign: Old-trek-vs-new-trek.com)
Nurd 1: No way! Kirk was a better captain than Picard any day!
Nurd 2: Oh yeah? Well at least Picard had the guts to admit he was bald!
Nurd 1: What!? You take that back (trails off).

The internet is a hive of illegal stuff - the question is how did Nerd 1 know about the show after it had been banned from being mentioned for over 700 years? Although Leela seemed to know when TOS was set, which is more than me so I guess they must be told something about it. Probably in world history or something.

Like we get taught about things like Nazism, but if we try and practise it, we'd most likely get arrested.

yeah, there are warez and other illegal activities, sure they try shutting them down, but on the internet there is no way to silence the nerds... in this case the nerds probably use the internet to talk about startrek. But basicly, we're trying to find excuses for the mistakes the creators made  ;)
