I just watched "A Flight to Remember" again, and at the end, Amy's parents come and say: "The important thing is that we found you a new man."  "A captiain!"  They then present Kif to Amy, which is where they get together.  Then in "Where the Buggalo Roam" Amy's dad says "Ahh, that right!  We finally get to spend some time with this 'Mr. Kif'."  Then Kif, back on the ship says "Actually sir, I'm a little nervous about meeting her family."  Then later, on Mars, Amy's dad says "This your boyfriend?  I have instant dislike of him!"  Then her mom "He too scrawny to father grandchildren."

What happened here?  Didn't Amy's parents hook Amy up with Kif?  Why do they act like they've never met?  Why do her parents all the sudden hate him when he comes to visit?

They've probably tried to hook Amy up so many times they don't remember every guys face, and besides Kiff was a "captain" when they introduced him.

It could have been forgotten by the director or writer of this episode.

I'm thinking haleys is more correct on this one, because Kif would surely have remembered Amy's parents showing him Amy.

Tack "...in my actual rank" to what Kif says about meeting Amy's parents, and it all makes sense.

Kiff probably feels that he was not really fully introduced to her parents, her parents probably just saw the big "Captain" sticker rather than anything else and just pushed him into meeting Amy without really knowing Kiff at all - although there must have quite a while in the escape pod for them to talk...
The other thing though is that Amy does say "You remember Kiff don't you?"
Yeah they're probably forgetful.

Kiff saying he's nervous about meeting her parents - although he's done it before - well it could be that he's just too shy.

But the thing is, it's always the case, parents hate who ever their daughters bring home - it's what's happening here. Maybe they chose Kiff in last chance desperation and thought Amy would probably just dismiss him like all the others, they would have always would have prefered someone else for Amy so imagine their annoyance when she's still with him.

Just my thoughts

Nibbler thinks it's wasn't the person that wrote A Flight to Remember didn't write Where the Buggalo Roam.

Knowing Amy right, Kif probably didn't have much sparetime in the escape pod to actually talk to her parents. And they only know him as the captain of the Titanic. Besides it took almost a year before Kif and Amy saw eachother again, and started a relationship. So for all Amy's parents know Kif might be a completely other guy, than the captain they met 18 motnhs ago.

As for Kif, I concur with Zed.

Parents prefer to choose than to accept, and in this case, Amy's parents are probably paranoid, so this is very true. Her mom and pop hooked her up with many suitors (you know how rich they are) and they go for the best of the lot. So yeah, I think it's all about the 'captain' title.

I think it's also interesting that in "Where the Buggalo Roam" Amy's parents seem to like Fry, or at least they don't seem to find him objectionable.  I wonder how they felt about him when he was dating Amy.  Do they even know that Amy and Fry dated?

Do the Wongs know that Fry is the uncle of the Phillip J. Fry?  If so, they might actually approve of Fry, particularly if they know that the Original Martian was named after him.

Chump also enjoys speaking in the third person to disply Chump's own unique brand of specialness.

In conversations, if you address someone by their name every time, replacing 'you' or other such words, it gets freaky.
