Is Bender gone forever?

Is he? In the topic "Robot Burials" you talk as if he is dead and is gone forever. Is he? Or is it just how you have described the episode...?

If Bender ever dies, there might be a chance that he could be buried in an improperly shielded casket next to an old modem. That way we can still have a ghost bender!

Yeah, and better yet, he could be a ghost and Fry, Leela, Amy and Zoidberg could don 70's attire and go around and solve mysteries like "The Funky Phantom." Remember that show? Eh? Eh? .....heh, eh?

It's been done before, but on Futurama it'll probably only happen if it was really funny. and no Bender is still not going anywhere, he'll be back in Season 5, maybe

I have no idea how this got started, but jeez-o-man...

According to the "upcoming episodes" page at The Leela Zone, Bender is the central focus of at least three of the remaining eps, and appears in a preproduction sketch from another. Seeing that the production-season finale, The Devil's Hands... is robotcentric, it makes sense to assume he's involved there too--and thus, all the way through the season. No worries.

Whack Tasha Yar and some fans get upset. Killing Bender, however, is the same as vaporizing Spock or Bones. It just doesn't make sense.

The reason people get killed in series is because the actor cancelled his/her contract or got fired.
Not because the character is boring.
