Last week I was taping " A Clone of my Own" off Sky1 and I noticed someat. When the proffeser is talking in the hologram to the PE crew and he says the part about Bender making a snide comment and that he'd taped over his soap operas to record his message, Bender replies by saying: "What! You..." And it just kinda stopped. Is there supposed to be a swear word in there or someat? It just sounded kinda wierd  :)

Bender says "You bastard!" in the copy I have. Not unusual for people overseas to get chopped up versions though.   :(

Thankyou  :) Yeah theres quite a few episodes that sound wierd. Like in Fry and the Slurm factory when fry says " Ow my sperm" It says that on the DVD's but when I watched it on the TV the other day it just said " Ow my.." and then that was it  :hmpf:

The word "Bastard" was also cut while they're trying to wake up the Professor after rescuing from the death star.

Really? Oh I never noticed that one. I'll have to go and watch it again and try and spot that one.

They kept "Hey, that was my last beer you bastard!" in a Sky One episode of "The Honking" I saw a while back so I dunno what they're doing. Can't remember what the timeslot was, could have something to do with it.

Yay! 600th post!  :D

It's at times like this I'm happy to live in a country without censorship.  :D Neither the spoken words, nor the subtitles gets cut, so no jokes is spoiled (apart from the substandard work of the translators, I swear soemtimes that job is occupied by a Babelfish program).

When "A Clone of My Own" was last shown on Sky One it was the Easter holydays when at least two episodes were shown a day. The time slot was mid afternoon between 3 and 4 o’clock. Sky One seems to cut more out during the afternoon than evenings for obvious reasons.

It wasn't at Easter I last saw it, it was several months ago.  :)

Hell Yeah! I've just been watching " The Lesser of 2 Evils" on the TV and OH MY GOD..how much has been cut out!! It made no sense! Especially the bit where Fry, Bender and Flexo are in the robot strip club and Fry (in the uncut version) gets hurt by the robot dancing on him. In the episode I just watched, that never happened and in the next scene we see Fry sat at the table with a neck collar on and a bandage on his head  Someone who'd never seen that episode b4 wouldn't be able to understand it and would wonder why the hell fry is hurt for no reason!  :hmpf:

That's what happened to me, the first version I watched was the C4 version and it seemed really patchy. When I watched it on Sky One in the evening I realeised how much had been cut, like the whip ass stuff.

Also on HHRHGB they cut tonnes of hilarious Fry/Morgan interaction with all the 'Dirty boy, dirty dirty dirty' stuff cut, so much funnier the uncut version!

That sucks... they're cutting out actual plot points! I dread what they'll do to things like "War is the H-Word" (the whole plot revolves around Bender saying the word "Ass") or "Amazon Women in the Mood" (will ANYTHING be left?).

The censorship just shows that Sky and C4 don't understand Futurama any more than Fox do. They all seem to think that animation = kid's programme, maybe that's why it gets bizarre time slots?

I have noticed that they have suddenly started showing unedited episodes of Simpsons and Futurama when for so long the would religiously cut out all swearing.

Is this a new fad or are they just getting SLACK?

If you want a heavily edited ep check "A fishfull of dollars". The number of times 'Mom' swears her head-off during the ep meant that it was hardly worth C4 showing what was left! Interestingly the audio commentry on the DVD has one of the contributers (D.X.C, I *think*) saying that its the one ep he won't let his kids watch for that reason.

Another good example of C4's wierd cutting policy (that I've mentioned before elsewhere) is the removal of the world 'Toblerone' from Leela's selfish speech in "I Second That Emotion". Bizarre!

Some more C4 dirt:

In the "Married With Children" bit on "A Bicyclops Built for Two", Al's "They were giving it away on a street corner, just like you" line had the second half cut out, and because it's in the middle of a scene from the same viewpoint there's a noticable picture jump.

Today I watched the mermaid one.  You know where Bender says "Harpoon, my ass!" and Leela does just that?  In the C4 version it's "Harpoon, my" "Okay!".  To make it even wierder, the word ass turns up later in the episode, and C4 LEAVES IT IN!

They've probably got some kid on work experience doing the censoring. Y'know, to keep him out of the way they give him a pair of scissors, a roll of sticky tape and a tape of Futurama.

When futurama is shown in the mornings in the UK (8:30 AM) they have cut so much more, they even cut "ass" out, like when flexo is having fry rub his back lower and lower until he says "can't get any lower, your rubbing my ass" it showed him asking lower and lower but just cut to the next scene before that comment, half the jokes didn't make sense because it was so cut..

C4 should show Futurama again after the Watershed, so I could actually see a uncut ep!

Flaming censors. BBC cut out "Bastard" out of The Simpsons, but yet the don't find "Bitch" offensive (depends what u think) as "bitch" now appears in every episode of Eastenders.

Yeah I know what u mean. I was watching "The Deeep South" the other day and in the part where they're fishing on the PE ship and bender says "Harpoon my ass!" It just says "Harpoon my.." and it sounds dead wierd

C4 are stupid showing futurama so early, at least sky one have the sense not to show it so early and you dont have to worry about them cutting out words like "ass" and "barstard"

I think sky1 might leave in ass but i dont think I've heard them say bastard. In England its on at 7:00pm on a sunday and 8:00pm on a friday so thats still before the watershed  :) I could be wrong about the swearing though so dont quote me  ;)

They butchered Why Must I Be A Cruestacean In Love? They cut out the whole scene in the car, deleted loads of funny Zoidberg/Fry sex related comments and left it about 5 minutes short!

I also thought (Before i knew it was cut) it sounded odd where it said 'You've become a fat sack of...(SHould be crap)'. They cut crap but not erotic display, how do they work out what to cut?

After watching the C4 version I wasn't too keen on this episode, I enjoyed it so much more on Sky.

In Out Your Head On My Shoulder, Fry says something like "Dammit, I forgot to get a girlfriend again", but if you watch you can see that his lips move in a completely different way. I know its only a cartoon but can you tell me what was said there. Also I noticed the bad links in The Deep South. I dont see whats so bad about the word ass. Shrek had the word Jackass in it (I think) and that was for children.

As for the episodes like Amazonian women in the Mood, it will probably end up being like Hell is other Robots where despite the censor's best efforts, the entire program was about getting stoned in a gutter, and this was at 8:30 in the morning. Ironically when most of Futurama's viewing audience are lazy b***ards still in bed.

Finally, in A Pharaoh to remember Bender joins in the rollerblading but gets pushed away as onto a road as a car is coming over the horizon. Was this a bit of censorship or just the writers putting in a car for no reason.

Did you know that fag means tired? And fagget means a bundle of sticks? And bitch means a spiteful women or a female dog? Or bastard means a son of unmarried parents?

Super non-swearing swearword sentence:

The bastard was fagged from chopping a fagget while his bitch ran around the ass.
