In benders big score, were did the time code tattoo come from since the one bender who put on fry was actually from lars who got it through the same process, were did it originally come from. It probably wasn't the god/galaxy thing from the episode "godfellas" because that would eventually take them in to the events of the beast with a billion backs, were the outcome is just that colline gets taken by the monster/heaven/pink thing with tentacles/ whatever thingy. That would be a lot of trouble to just do that little task. Or maybe  he did it so the earth would be more cautious about scams. Were do you think it came from?

I tried to work it out in my head, but it made my head hurt too much.  :hmpf: However, if you'd like to read more discussion on it, I suggest reading this thread.

Bender put it on Fry's arse after Fry fell into the freezer in 1999. What's there to understand?

But it was already on Lars' butt, and then it was put onto Fry's butt. But Lars is Fry, so the question is where did it originally come from?

it came from the same place as fry's Y chromosome; it's a closed loop of time. Neither paradox is likely to be resolved better than that in the series, but I like to think that the Nibblonians often work by creating and manipulating closed time loops like these.

Gopher said it better than I could have hoped to. It's an infinite loop, no defined start or beginning, it just is.

They did it in Red Dwarf as well, mmhmm!

Gopher is a word genius, much better than my answer of "It made my head hurt too much." :)

Yeah, people don't seem to get closed loop timelines at all. I posted an explanation of how the Y-Chromasome one works a while ago, complete with diagrams, and people were still saying "whut?" afterwards.

Time isn't a river, people. It's more like a big ball of... wibbley-wobbley timey-wimey... stuff. :p

It's just a big loop, ur not really supposed to know what happened to it I guess.

Not really, Bender put the tattoo that he took from Lars Fry's arse onto Freezer Fry's arse then one version of Freezer Fry ended up being Lars Fry who arse tattoo was taken by Bender to put on Freezer Fry's arse etc etc etc. How is that so hard to comprehend? As has already been said (a million times), it's just a big loop.

Almost all examples of time travel in the Futuramaverse are some form of loop, or an open loop (spiral) with a paradox that ends the looping and re-establishes logical continuity.

That's total BS.  Cartoons like Futurama have to be reasonable models for how the Universe actually works.

My problem is, if Bender put the tattoo on Fry's butt in 1999, then it should have been visible in every single episode Fry was shown sans pants.

Fry didn't know Bender then, and wouldn't have gotten the tattoo until he was frozen.  Don't you remember Bender from way at the end in the middle of the movie?

If you're on about after he was frozen, my only guess is that it wasn't there at all but Bender put it there and it changed time so it was there which created the paradox about how the hell it got there because it came from him in the first place.

We didn't see the tattoo of Bender on Fry's ass until "Bender's Big Score" or at any other point in the series. I have a theory at some point Fry may of been drunk one night and got a tattoo which he didn't remember he got between the events of "The Devil's Hands are Idol Playthings" and "Bender's Big Score". That might explain how he got it. But what kind of person who owns a tattoo shop knows the secret code of time travel?

Maybe in newer episodes they may fully explain this.

This is all quite easily explained.

Until the Scammers and the Planet Express crew came close enough to observe each other, and thus, in accordance with the current theories of quantum mechanics, affect each other, the time code, at least according to the Copenhagen interpretation the same theories, existed only in an unobservable state of both existence and nonexistence. Once the two groups of individuals came close enough to associate, the certainty of the time code being formed through its own paradox increased, collapsing the wavefunction and enabling it observable by Bender.

I hereby entitle this the theory of Schrödinger's Buttocks.

Late to the party I know, but I didn't want tostart an entire thread for this. I kinda found it odd that even in the past where Fry didn't go missing his brother still named his son after him, I know, I know, it can be easily explained. I just wondered if anyone else caught that? Eh, I'm tired and just watched the movire :P

Well, he did surprisingly survive the apartment explosion, perhaps they thought he was dead. If the kid was born after that, that would make sense.

My mom tells me all the time I'm a freak. I tell her that's right, I'm a futurefreak! Then she says no, you're just a freak.

Oh man, I had to describe to her yesterday what an AGI was :laff: I have to finish this book so I can stop having these conversations with her.

...what was this thread about again?
