I guess it's fair to revive this thread now that the second half of the season has begun airing.
Anyway, not a major goof, but when checking towards the end of "Benderama" to see whether they had remembered to have the Earth spinning clockwise (due to the events of "That Darn Katz") I noticed that it isn't spinning at all...
You can barely see the Earth spinning depending on the angle or distance, so I wouldn't count that as a goof.

Actually...watching it again, I think the view on the TV is supposed to be coming FROM the helicopter...I mean where the hell else would it be coming from? Yes, the view looks pretty much exactly the same as what you see out the window, which is perhaps a bit of a goof, but not being able to see the helicopter isn't a goof, since the camera shooting the TV footage must be on the helicopter.
Um, what? Seriously. We already established that....

Huh? When was that established? I looked through the thread and failed to find it. I don't think it's supposed to be the helicopter that has the camera. Especially, you know, seeing as the helicopter has freaking guns on it.

But isn't that the news helicopter in the window? Or perhaps its delayed by a few seconds like most newscasts are, in which case the helicopter was not there yet.
Or, it could just be a mistake

Crap, I failed entirely there, didn't I?
Still, I don't think that's the news helicopter. Lay in the guns on it together with the fact that we saw helicopters attacking the giant before, and the angle being all wrong.

It may be a little far-fetched that they won't hurt him even slightly, but then again we have no idea of how the giant's biology works. For all we know, he could have some sort of skin-coloured metal, in which case it's not far-fetched. Just say "he's a space giant of some sort we know nothing about", and anything is possible. :P

The skin is also metal, and evolved evolutionarily, so he "needs" to shave for the same reason humans "need" to shave - the beard barely has a point anymore, so most people get rid of it because it's in the way. I'm not saying it's plausible, I'm just saying it's not a goof because there are plenty of logical explanations.

Wait, wait, wait. Metal skin? That'd make him a robot.

Aki

Not necessarily. A robot is defined by that it is a machine that can think logically. Many machines in our society are made of metal, but all things of metal aren't necessarily robots. A biological life could technically evolve with metal skin without "turning" in to a robot for some reason.

So, a Cyborg?
|
|
|
|
|
Aki

Professor

|
|
Not necessarily. A cyborg is a biological creature that has had mechanical elements imported into the body, so that the body is part biological, part mechanical. In other words yes, the giant could be a cyborg, but he could also just be some sort of amazing mechanical man. Or a robot. All of this is beside my main point, which is there are plenty of explanations.

Ah, but what is the thickness of said skin. If it gets thicker as he gets larger, then it may be no worse than what we would get from a roman candle, a red spot that stings a little. Compare the heat of a missile and the heat of a candle. It's quite the difference, even considering his size and the resultant thickness of the skin. The explanation would be either that his skinthickness-height scale is not proportionate to that of humans, or that he has a different type of skin (like metal or whathaveyou). He never gets larger... jeepdavetj meant "he" as in "the experimental object of discussion".

Found a goof in 'Benderama', when the UGM is shaving with Zapp and Kif's DOOP Helicopter, he gets punched by Big Bender, and the helicopter completely disappears, he doesn't drop it and you don't see it fly away out of his hand.

I smell a statement that disrupts canon, or am I grossly misinformed?
You're not misinformed. Xanfor's pulling things outta his ass. Besides which, we know that teleportation will not be invented until 3026, thanks to a line in Neutopia.

In Neutopia when Leela nudges Fry to wake him up in the plain cockpit she has her wristie-thing on. In the next scene it's gone. I'll have to check tonight to see if it appears/ disappears in earlier scenes.
