In the episode with stephen hawking... when fry DIDN'T go to the future like he was supposed to (wait... was that one of the movies?... oh my) anyway... there was a rip in the time-space continuum or some BS like that and Leela, Professor, and Bender came through in the rip. BUT they wouldn't have known each other had it not been for fry.
that is all.

There was a rip in space-time and you expect anything to make sense?

Doesn't the professor argue that the What-If Machine itself is flawed?  I mean, Stephen Hawking in a pizzeria?!

As strange as it is to me that you would join PEEL without bothering to learn the episode names, new person (see, I'm not bothering to learn your name, either)*, I must admit to having a similar gripe about the Fry and/or Hawking Hole in "Anthology of Interest I." But I'm sure we can rationalize this somehow. Like, I guess there's no actual evidence in the episode that the characters appearing in the rift (Bender, Leela, Farnsworth, and Zoidberg, if memory serves) are co-workers or even acquaintances (though one would assume that's the case). So I'll give the writers a pass on that one, seeing as how it's so ambiguous anyway. It helps me sleep better at night, see?

I had no idea there was a required knowledge of episode names to join PEEL. I could have took time, I suppose, to find out the name of the episode... OR asked my 3 year old son (he is much more interested in Futurama than I am) but I didn't. Shame on me. Next time I decide to point out a legitimate "re-check" or "weird scene" I should do my homework! I didn't know things were so serious here in the Planet Express Employee Lounge. I thought we were on break~
but your reply was much more thoughtful than the others

The stories depicted in the Anthology of interest episodes are not canon. Therefor they can be as ridiculous as they want. Like the one where a giant Bender is assembled by a multitude of Bender duplicates and sent to Earth to destroy everything. It's incompatible with the canon.

Nah, I was just being a big ol' disagreeable geek. There's nothing wrong with joining PEEL with a more-or-less passing knowledge of the series--trust me, that whole being-an-obsessive-fan thing just kind of grows on you, after you've spent enough time here. :)

In the on-topic boards, that is. If you venture into off-topic, I fear you'll discover the less palatable parts of our nerdy society.

The question is, can anybody name EVERY Futurama episode name, in order?

*Swoons*

Actually, I can name the episodes in (production) order, too. But I figured Svip's ability to do so was a swoon-worthy feat regardless.

If the What-if machine is flawed, doesn't that mean that the simulation he is watching about the finglonger is also flawed? Meaning that it wouldn't be that good if he invented it? My head hurts...

Speaking of episode names, what episode (and scene) does that image come from?

It's when Fry's searching though Leela's underwear for Flexo and Bender shows up with the map obscuring his chin, Fry takes the map and Bender has the scarf on then walks out.
