Mutants and old new york

how come underground is old new york AND the sewer but if u see luck of the fryish than a mutant comes UNDERGROUND of old new york.  Just Saying when u go down in the sewers than ur at the mutant neiborhood and when u go down stairs from something ur at old new york, AND in Jurasic Bark the sub-basement is a pit of lava they don't go through the old new york OR the mutants sewers.

I think the New York layer is above the sewer. Also, they don't go down through the old New York bit in Jurassic Bark because they built Planet Express, the New York bit might just go around it.

but the sub-Basment is deep in the earth's core or something wouldn't it be stupid to have an Elevator going through the mutants sewer?

A sewer doesn't run under every single square foot of a city.  It mostly runs under the streets.  It doesn't run under properties.

I could have sworn this topic was discussed here before.  But before I run off and search for the thread, I want to throw out that I believe the conclusion reached there was a combination of what Trombonist said, and the theory that in the sections where both intersect, one is on top of the other (i.e., the sewers are beneath ONY, or vice-versa).
