The letters on the house of Bender's robot fraternity are E-R-R.

This does spell "err" in English.  But the greek letter for R, rho, looks like a roman letter P.

If Futurama fans get the Uncertainty Principle joke, shouldn't the letters on the house be E-P-P?

That would be way too nerdy (and also not obvious enough) to be funny to most people. Whilst Futurama is an intelligent show aimed at folks with more than half a brain in their heads, it's also designed around the mass-market appeal of such things as toilet humour and lowbrow crudity.

Part of the appeal of Futurama that gets to so many people is that it's nerdy, but still accessible.

Although I don't get the joke, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what it is. Futurama has plenty of hidden jokes the casual veiwer wouldn't pick up on. alian lanuages anyone?

Robot House was clearly modeled after Animal House, with a bit of Lamda Lamda Lamda (Revenge of the Nerds) thrown in for good measure. The name itself, ERR, is a bit of programmer humor, as ERR is a common abbreviation for error particularly in limited systems where long error messages are not possible. It may be intended as a specific reference beyond that, I'm not certain, but I know I've seen ERR, usually followed by a number, blinking on the LCD displays of many dead electronics over the years (car radios, vcrs, that sort of thing).
