During Season 4, there are the 3004 Olympics, which are immeadiately followed by Roboticon 3003. Does anyone know which year it really is?

I think there was a discussion about this years ago, and the general consensus was: we have no idea.

I tend to lean towards 3003, since I figured each production season roughly covers a year (so if season 1 was 3k to 3001, then season 4 would be season 3003 to 3004).  I think they just used 3004 so they could claim it was an olympic year, and the fact that they jumped straight to 3003 in the next episode makes me question how serious they were about that previous date.  Hopefully this'll all be clarified in the movies, since they'll have a two-year gap to explain anyway.

(Edit: My theory, of course, blatantly ignores that there have only been two X-Mas episodes, the first which took place in season 2. I never said it was accurate. :P )

I myself tend to think the show follows a roughly (very, very roughly) chronological order that is 1000 years ahead of whenever it aired. But... that's just me. It makes things a bit easier.

Or maybe robots have their own calendars, like the Mayans or the Chinese. Kinda.

Or maybe it's all an ilusion and it's really 7008 and the illusion will all be revealed in season 38!

but really i think that it was just a mistake and probally ment to be 3004 cause i thought 1 season = 1 year.

and about the x-mas, they might not show every x-mas only 2. They only have had 2 valentines days and 1 new years day.

I think the last year Futurama took place in was 3004.  When they were at the 3004 Olympics in Bend Her.

Also in Roswell that ends well, it says it's 3002, so I tend to lean more to 3003 when the series ended

I tend not to think about the years in which things accured. I'm not that smart and i'll hurt my brain.

This is probably why they're dodging the question entirely by returning several years later; they can just say "... whatever, it's 3008 now." When they made season 4, they were more worried about cramming in as much as they could before the series ended; they really didn't plan for a comeback.

I heard it's going to be two years after the last episode, so it will be between 3006 - 3007

Heres just something to throw out there.... in the episode Crimes of the Hot  they pushed the easrt farther from the sun thus making the year longer could have some effect on the time problems......but probably not, the writers arent infallible

Roboticon 3003 may have been postponed due to the Decapodian invasion. Or... there are some after effects from The Brain Spawn invasion.
