I noticed this a few days ago when I was watching the episode 'Bend Her'. Right when bender first dresses up as a fembot to earn his medals at the start of the episode, he wears all the fitting clothes etc to pull off the sharade, but I noticed a quite obvious mistake which should have made him be revealed as a manbot strait away but as we all know, he didn't...

The thing was his antena was clearly sticking out of his head for all to see, through all of his costume and learnt later in the episode, this 'item' is a feature present for Manbots hence why Farnsworth removes it when converting him into a Fembot. So I just thought I would point out this mistake I noticed and wandered if any of you Peelers had a possible explanation for this blooper       :D

The evidence is shown here, from this framegrab off 'Bend Her':

Thanks guys!

Some fembots do have antennae, and most humans know very little about robot affairs. The presence of an antenna so obviously... Masculine, was probably overlooked by the human judges and masked to the robot judges by Coilette's beauty.

Anyway, that's what the Robot Oil Sex-Check was supposed to be for, right?

Also, the whole idea of Bender's original disguise was that it was a visual gag: obviously crappy, very easy to see through, but because the cartoon needed it to work (up to a point), it did.

I think Bender's one of the only Malebot or fembot i've seen with an atenea sticking out of his head.

Yes thats true fembots may in rare cases contain aerials but throughout watching Futurama I can't recall any which do???

Nice grabs Shiny, I guess I am mistaken for calling the aerials present on fembots rare  :D so therefore this case of Benders aerial is appropriate, your right, thanks guys for the info   ;)

How come it affects the big TV in Fry's new place, and thus has it removed?

Well , phones fuck up planes right? It's basically the same principal. It just interferes with the signal.

A bigger question might be how they can beam commercials into people's dreams but are still using Stupid Ages-era technology for television.

Yeah I know, you think they would have ditched the old tube huh... I mean you could initiate a sensor to view images from gamma radiation in the atmosphere while sat down instead of watching a very very very primative technology

Yeah good point but from the grabs above the Masked Unit's girlfriend has one on her head.... so it may be different for each robot, for what the function of their aerial is... hmmmm

The function of the antennae is stated in the episode "Mother's Day". All robots built by MomCorp have an antenna somewhere on their body. It is not always visible, (eg: the garbage disposal, the ATM, the suicide booth) but serves the function of receiving commands from a universal control  (presumably satellite-based) signal. The controls to the signal itself are located on a remote wand-like device hidden in Mom's [whisper]bra[/whisper].

Ah, that too.    :p

And Beanbeanbean: There is no proof, now or ever, that a mobile phone interferes with aircraft systems.  It would just be too damned expensive to check all the systems, so they go by "better safe than sorry". It doesn't affect APC's either, and I've used several phones on different flights across the globe, didn't affect me none.  Oooo, that mountain looking pretty, where are those sparks coming from??
