The mastering of the sound in The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings is noticably different than the rest of the episodes. For the majority of the episode the soundscape is far more cramped than normal, only to expand fully during parts of the opera (specifically, when Leela is pulled onto the stage). I would have thought this to be an artistic decision to make the opera more powerful, but then it pulls away about a minute later. I'm confused..

Ok, here's the plan. I'll go check that episode, be back here in a day or two, while you say '10-4'. Funny, I've never noticed this thing of which you speak, but maybe you're onto something...

I was wondering about "A Tale of Two Santas" when Leela starts to sing in the toy factory her voice is at a noticeably low volume then slowly goes back to normal volume. I was wondering if it was some sort of surround sound dimensioning that sounds odd on a mono, regular TV sound system.

It may not be a mistake, just a technical thing between old and new sound systems.

The Goof thread is for the little thing's that shouldn't warrant their own thread.

There's no point in making a thread to show an oddity if the only reply will be:
"yep, there's an error. Good work!"

In my opinion, Thread's in "weird scenes" should only be made if the discussion will not be discrete, or will last longer than 2 replies.

I agree totally with what you say and understand that's what it was designed for but people take it too far. Sorry Shinyass, you're a good guy but just to point out that as an example, when you say "Please post in the Goof thread" --- why? This is a good topic of discussion. Too many people see that thread as where every goof should go....I mean look at the Farnsworth Parabox thread. No doubt that I should have posted that in the Goof thread but if I had the conversation wouldn't have carried on for another 2 pages and allowed people to make some other good points.

I don't mean to be harsh about it or anything I just think some people over-look things.

Apologies if this is in the wrong place; I honestly didn't know if the sound was in fact a technical error in the first place.

Ok, speaking of sound... Watch 'A Fishful of Dollars'. Does the soundtrack sound a little different, or is that just my punishment for not watching any first-season episodes in a while?
